Drouin will become the sexy pick of this year's draft .. That one player who shoots up the ranks out of no where. Depending on the draft order, a certain team might even take him second overall or something .. Could happen

That being said I really like the kid, he's got that element of his game to step it up it seems when it counts .. Just needs to physically mature a pick more for the NHL

He reminds me of Giroux somewhat. Skill level through the freakin roof.

I'm taking harder looks at guys like Erne, Duclair and Lazar at this point cause I just don't think we will be drafting top 5.

That is certainly a stretch.

Giroux isn't actually that great of a skater (all things considered). Doesn't have top end speed, but he always knows where to be. Incredibly smart, which makes it less of an issue.

Obviously Drouin isn't a better skater at his age than Giroux is at his age now, but I am pretty confident that he is a better skater than Giroux was in junior.

Seth Jones with a very strong game today against the Czechs in the 1/4 final.

No way this kid doesn't go 1 or 2 this draft.

That would be sick, Mooseheads going 1-2 (Voracek I believe is the highest we've had in history). It would be just like the 2011 Q draft :naughty:

I actually think our team is decent enough (especially in a 48-game season) to win enough to not be in the top 5. I don't think we will make the playoffs, but having a good 4/6 in the top 6, a decent D and with Reimer even playing slightly better than last year, I feel we are due for about 10th or 11th in the conference, not where we want to be at all.

In a season so short, a five game stretch can be a huge difference, and I can see us going on a random 5-0-0-0 run to take us out of the running.

Ferraro said "Even though he hasnt had a good tournament, I dont know how anyone can pass up seth jones at #1 overall"

Obviously seth jones might not be the best player to come out from the draft (in the end), but I think having him at #1 in any draft list is very reasonable.

Also like hartman. He's reckless but he is a big body with finish. If he pans out, he could be a valuable forward in the nhl level

I think Mackinnon is getting a little undersold right now. I have been very critical of his play in the tournament, but all things considered, more about him screams NHL than in Drouin.

Obviously Drouin has better hands, and much better IQ, but he too relies a lot on being a puck hound behind the net, and with his frame, im not sure he will be able to do that in the NHL.

IMO, the speed and strength of Mackinnon is so appealing to me. And to be honest, I wouldnt mind seeing him back in Halifax next year, because he is still a bit raw with the puck in tight quarters.

I stand by the fact that Mackinnon is like a more explosive version of Tavares (although they're much closer now that Tavares has improved his skating) .. Nothing flashy about his game, just excellent all around

But if he keeps getting overlooked maybe he'll fall to the Leafs if they get a top 5 pick ;)

I love how much of a forechecking puck hound MacKinnon is, especially when you bring his skill into consideration. The complete package in a centre. Still would prefer him over Drouin.

I think Drouin is a very similar player to Girioux and Eberle. They arent explosive skaters, but are more quick and crafty. I'm also thinking that the recent success at the NHL level for Giroux and Eberle is making teams look a lot closer at Drouin than they would in the past.

If Burke resists making a move and leaves this team "as is" I can't see us finishing out of the bottom five. There are a lot of teams who will be improved, especially in the East. Would forget about making play offs this year and look to get a top five pick and stockpile some more picks from this draft. Leafs are also notoriously slow starters.

Yep, he's the type of guy who will play 5v5, PK, and PP minutes. A do-it-all, single-handily win games type of guy.

Even though most people disagree, I still see some Crosby in him. He's not going to be the best player in the league, but the way he can control his body and the puck. He's so strong and can turn on a dime, much like Sid.

Like you mentioned, his forechecking game is AWESOME. One of my favourite parts of his game, and I love how that is something he verbally personally prides himself in. He's a winner.

Yup, Leafs need a centre like him badly .. He and Kessel would gel together well I think

Leafs need any kind of centre that resembles a top two line player.

I wouldn't move our best player just to put two players together. I'd rather move Lupul or a defenseman before we move a top line forward for something that might not work in the pros.

Its not that MacKinnon has played bad, its just he hasn't been given an opportunity to show his game really. I still wouldnt take Jones over mackinnon.

Drouin I think is one of those players that is just going to exceed at all levels, like eberle. He's just so smart. And he's not exactly small.
