Caps/Isles ended in regulation, the Penguins lost in regulation, and the Rangers stole a point. All in all a good result tonight.

Why did DD & Shatty take penalties - Nash scored a nice one in last penalty shootout.
I`m pleased we get 1 pts though.

Because AV.

AV needs to watch Buch penalty shots on youtube, he's excellent at them.

I'm fine with Shattenkirk as a 3rd after Zucc and Buch. Could also use Miller or Hayes.

Absolutely putrid performance. Embarrassing really.

Pavelec was obviously fantastic, nobody else showed up. Unreal.

I mean I hate the shootout but if we have to do it, why the **** is Desharnais shooting? I don’t care career percentages. How about using your best forwards? How many ppl should’ve gone before Desharnais and Shatty? Nash, Buch, Miller, Vesey all at the very least. Jesus Christ.
He hasn't scored in the shootout [or penalty shot] in 3 seasons. He hasn't been good offensively this year to merit consideration, and certainly wasn't any bit good offensively this game to even merit it on a single game basis. It is pure, idiotic, favoritism.

The last time David Desharnais scored a shootout goal was the 2014-15 season. Since then he has been 0 for 5. Good freakin' choice to put out there you moron.

He had 3 total attempts in the 2015-16 season and missed them all.

1 attempt all of last year and missed.

Was already 0 for 1 this year.

There is a reason that his old team stopped using him entirely and he hasn't been good at it here either. His skills in the shootout from half a decade ago means nothing.
AV has done some stupid things that sometimes I defend, but this one takes the cake. Nash on his WORST day, is a better choice. Not to mention guys like Buch, Vesey and JT. Hell, Smith would have been a better choice.

Eh they had no business winning that game

Pavelec deserves better though

I do see it as a good stepping stone for Pavelec in being that backup that we have just taken for granted would be good these last few seasons. It's like he put a stamp on it. For him this game was a win, in a way. Not trying to speak for him, just hope he has a really good feeling.

I'm okay with Desharnais, just not at center and not with high usage. He's a good 3rd line winger, better than someone like Vesey, Grabner or Fast. Play him at center or higher in the lineup, and he gets exposed.

Dallas gave us a point. We appreciated their generosity and reciprocated by putting DD out there basically telling Lehtonen that he's going backhand from 20 feet out in a telegraph worse than Nash the other night. Everyone was in a giving mood. Garden of Dreams night.

That was terrible to watch, god knows how we ended up with a point. Thank you Pavs, who deserves all the stars, the hat and whatever else he wants...
AVs shootout choices were...interesting.
It's infuriating that man-to-man D is meant to be a 'tighter' system than zone coverage but we always seem to give opposition players far too much time and space in their zone.

At least we didn't get shutout? We got a point we didn't deserve. Take the point and run. Thing is, if this is how we are going to play during this tough stretch.......well, we are gonna be in deep doggie doodoo.

DD might have good SO %. So, statistically I guess it could be proven to be a decent choice. I was not aware of that,
IMO, I just would want to get that younger core guy in there to take that spot. Buch would have been my top choice, right up there with Zuccs. Miller too.
My hindsight is not even that, just what I would have liked to have seen.
