That is one of those movies you only ever need to watch once in your life.
Yeah, I mentioned on another forum that it was my first and likely only time.

I’m really glad I finally got around to seeing it, but I don’t know if I can put myself through that again, especially knowing it’s basically a true story.

I own it on Blu-Ray.

I own probably 70% of the Ghibli movies on Blu-ray for my collection. I’ve only seen it maybe 3 times. Don’t blame me you’re not strong enough to appreciate the art!

You got a Schindler's List and Requiem for a Dream as well? lol

Well, I’ve seen both of those multiple times. Requiem is overrated though, so pass. No urge to watch it again. That’s a different category of movie though; it’s just dragging you through the muck. Even Schindler’s List doesn’t fall into that category. I don’t really have the urge to watch something like Come and See again, although I believe all great films are worthy of repeat viewings. But Grave of the Fireflies is profoundly beautiful in its sadness, with the most delicate of touches. It’s absolutely worth a rewatch years down the line. It tells you the ending from the first scene, so I don’t think that’s the only thing to glean from it.

What am I looking at with this hurricane?

I’m supposed to be driving down to Disney on Thursday night. SIL and BIL are flying down tomorrow. They’re likely screwed but I’m more concerned about myself. Should I wait a day to head down or do you think I’ll have enough time for it to be through?

Pending it not destroying tons in it’s path.

My mom has been in the hospital since Friday evening, she needs a heart catheterization today and it apparently can't be done without an iodine dye that she is severely allergic to (she went into full anaphylactic shock the last time she had a CT with the dye decades ago). They've done pretreatment but there's still no guarantee nothing will go wrong. So to say I am severely concerned is an understatement.

Best wishes, SF. Hope all ends up okay.

This thing has absolutely blown up since 2am this morning. This will most likely be a Cat 5 by this afternoon, if it isn't already. If I was your SIL and BIL, I would not want to be flying down there tomorrow. Obviously Orlando is inland, but this storm is still, most likely, going to cause a lot of problems around Disney. It was just announced that TPA is closing at 9am tomorrow, and my guess is that MCO will probably close tomorrow night. The parks will most certainly be closed Wednesday and probably most of Thursday as it is projected to be just off the Atlantic coast Thursday morning. If you're driving down Thursday night, you should be fine. It's cutting across Florida, so you wouldn't run into any issues until south of Jacksonville, and you wouldn't be getting there until sometime later in the day Friday anyway.

Where are you SIL and BIL staying when they are scheduled to arrive tomorrow?

They'll be staying at AK Lodge. Disney is always seen as a "good" place to be during a Hurricane so if they can get there they will. Although, after i'm typing that out i'm gonna be a bit screwed if they can't get down there for a few days as they are military and they need to activate our tickets. Absolute first world problems right there, just something that didn't cross my mind until now.

I've seen the path that has it cutting across Florida but haven't seen anything once it gets to the other side. Is there a typical path for a storm on this path once it gets to the Atlantic? I'm just worried about it cutting back to the coast and having to drive through it myself in one of the more northern states.

I guess we'll be on standby to see if when the in-laws will be getting down there.

DVC at AKL? If that's the case, hopefully they can get to the store once they land, or try and order groceries to the resort, so they'll have stuff for when the storm hits and don't have to eat the boxed meals that Disney will provide.

Once it goes through Florida, it continues to go out to sea, no curve north into GA or SC or anything like that, so you won't have any problems driving, until you get into Florida.

No DVC, just the regular hotel. They're staying there for a the couple of days before we get there. They're military at least so they can probably handle themselves better in that type of situation than I can. I know my BIL will eat anything, lol.

Should be a family adventure coming up here. Guess I gotta wait and see if they get down there before I start my adventure.

Never a dull moment. It going out to sea makes me feel a good bit better for my drive. What comes with the destruction of this thing is a whole other matter.
