Yeah both have big pluses and minuses. A little easier to take a trip with a 3 day weekend but mentally it's a lot easier to go to work during a week in which Wednesday you're not there.

Wish I could commute on foot or a bike to my new job but alas stuck with using a car for now. Would love to get rid of it and the expenses that come with it.

As much as I hate credit cards this is why I only use credit cards.

Banks will screw around with your money and if a credit card gets stolen/etc. you just simply refuse to pay the bill.

I lost a credit card at a day game at the WFC last year. Whomever found it went to King of Prussia and tried to buy a high end hand bag. It was refused, and I got a call from my card bank. They shut everything down that night zero responsibility for the 3 things they did purchase.

How quickly do you need to book? The only big advantage you can gain beyond that is waiting for someone like SecretFlying to find weird rate sales. You can also set up price alerts, but the specificity is often too limiting to catch the real deals.
