What morons lol.

That's another thing. The drainage in the backyard is atrocious. The backyard slopes down on either side and meets at a flat area outside the basement door. Every spout they have drains into this area, so when it rains a lot, it pools in that spot. I need to do a lot of digging and install some drains. I hate this house but can't tell the wife that
Almost bought a house like that....inspector tipped me off..so did a multi-day rainstorm. Same house my bitch realtor tried to downplay because she wanted a sale....

Yeah, definitely a scumbag move. The first week we moved in, it was one of those weeks where there were torrential rains, we had to put a towel down on the ledge and the next morning the towel was completely soaked. There's no way they didn't know about this issue, but it'd be impossible to try and prove. We figured we'd spend just as much in fees trying to fight it as we would just getting it repaired, so that's most likely what we'll do. We have someone coming out next week to give us an estimate.

There's no doubt we wouldn't have gotten the house with a home inspection, which would have been fine with me, but I lost that battle.
Flex tape or Flex seal might be a temporary solution until you get it fixed.

It was me against my wife and her dad... needless to say, I stood no chance and now we're paying for it, literally
Make her dad pay half.

This slide in Boston sure is a mystery. We had that video that went viral of the police officer that got sent to hell on it but no one else has been able to recreate even anything close to that level of speed.
That cop got absolutely bundled on that thing. Maybe the polyester uniform is the key?

That's it. Thats the trick. It's like wearing lube.

Anyways, in other news, I don't get how anyone can drive around in a whiny Civic outfitted with fartcannon exhaust. How do you listen to that nonstop without succumbing to the need to smash into the end of a jersey wall?

Just a heads up, your golf time will suffer a bit with a child in the mix. It will essentially cease to exist if a second child comes into play.
@Cody Webster I'll second this. At least early on. With two, there's very minimal time.

Being a homeowner is a pain in the ass.

I know my time is dwindling quick. Trying to get it all in while I still can. Seriously considering this trip, but it's just so much money
IF you can stomach the money part, I would seriously think about it. Life with kids is awesome and I wouldn't trade back....But it's so different, you can't really understand until after you have them....I hated when people said that prior to having my kids, but it was super true for me and my wife.

My wife and I each had our own place before we met and I sold mine to move in with her. Her dad is a financial planner and I put that money into an account that basically just saved the money. We sold her place and bought our new house and I used most of the gains I made on my house to put towards our new house. I also used some of the money from that account to buy a new car, but I just checked the account and there's more in there than I thought....I might pull the trigger.

I have to discuss it with her. I planned a little buddies getaway the end of August thinking it'd be my last trip before the baby, then this popped up. She said I could go, but I know there's probably some resentment in there somewhere

Plan something nice for her to even the scales a bit and you'll feel less guilty about it. Something like a spa weekend or whatever else she might be into. You can really pour it on depending on how bummed you think she might be.

(Unrelated) The older I get the more I'm flabbergasted at how little people know or even care to know about home maintenance/repair and car maintenance/repair. Literally two of the biggest life expenses and most people don't even know which way to turn a screwdriver.

@Young Sandwich @VladDrag

My cousin was supposed to go on a golf trip to Bandon with a few buddies in mid-September. He's had a few things pop up and now he's backing out and asked if I would be interested in filling in for him....I would love to, but the cost is so damn much, and my wife is expecting mid-to-end of October, so she'd probably kill me, but god would I love to say yes
Are you talking Oregon? That place is amazing.
