I know that this kid was supposed to be offensively dynamic center but his knock was his size. What are we talking about with this kid now? Has he broken out in the AHL and proven he can play as an offensive C down there? Is this like...a Hudler situation where they let him slow bake for three years and he can come in as a 2-3C at the NHL level? Someone tell me how I should feel about him!

You should be cautiously very excited with how he's started the season. Jeff Marek was just tweeting about how good he is. If random media members are noticing it says something imo

I still like him long term as a winger, just because frankly I can't see him displacing Kasper or Danielson at winger and I'm starting to think he could be a top 6 forward.

He's not huge, but I wouldn't call him tiny, and he's just oozing confidence out there right now.

Always been hoping for this guy since his years in Flint and the first camp he was at, he is a potential diamond. Need some Lombardi on that Trophy.

178lbs is pretty light for the NHL, that would put him at 42nd lightest.

8 goals and 6 assists in 17 games.

6 pts in last 5, and 8 in last 8 games. When a prospect reaches 1 pt per game in the AHL, that's when the discussion to call him up should start.

If the Wings continue their lackluster play with no offense, they're gonna at least have to considering bring him up and maybe Nate too. At least Watson isn't the only callup now.

BTW, game logs and highlights are available on the AHL website now, they've added a lot of features the last 2 years.

At least everyone agrees on something, lol.

The team is gonna lose if Husso starts games, might as well have something to watch. Plus, the team will need 5 goals to win with him goaltending, which is more the reason to call up Lombardi instead of throwing Motte or Joey on the ice.

He’s hurting a bit. Heck I think Nate could come up and do fine.

14 pts in his last 14 games, he's 1 pt per game for the season aside from the first 3 games.

We should be talking about this kid instead of Cleveland. I think everyone here has a steamer fetish or something.

Anyways, the kid is making a case to be the first callup considering the team needs more offense.

From the same guy who insists ND needs to put on weight and get stronger.

The BC hate .... it'll eat you up.

Nate needs to add some bulk, he got manhandled in his only fight. GR does a good job of bulking kids up, even Mazur added some much needed strength and weight. Seeing how Joey, Burger, and Kasper all got up to NHL size, I'm sure Nate will also put on 10 lbs or so next summer.

In any case, has anyone else noticed that Lombardi is on 1 point per game pace if you take away the first 3 scoreless games? 1 point per game for a prospect is my threshold for a callup, if he sustains that for 30 games or so he deserves at least a few games. He's small so I dunno if his game will transfer, but at least he's bigger than Kane.

I'd like to see Nate called up for a few games as well. Getting outmuscled in the NHL is a huge motivator for these kids to bulk up, like Ray for example though he never played for GR.

Different role, I don't expect Lombardi to pay center at the NHL level. I expect him to be a soft winger like Kane, hopefully closer to prime Kane than current Kane. And I would love it if Amadeus could pick up 10 lbs and be more like DBC than Kane, but there's a place for smaller skilled wingers in the league. Not every player needs to be 200 lbs, but you obviously don't get it and you'll show it with your next response.

He kinda reminds me of T.J. Oshie with better skating but I guess thats just me. I've watched just a few periods of his AHL season so far.

TJ Oshie is pretty strong for his size (5'11" 195lbs) and will throw his body around. He also protects the puck well, I don't see much similarity in their game.

I think he may ultimately be the guy that takes DBC's place in a few years. I think you can rock a few smaller wingers on a roster as long you can balance that with players who can make room. It's why drafting guys like MBN and Kasper were important for this team.

With that I'd say DBC, Buch, Ammo, Berggy are probably all competing for 2 longer term spots, maybe 3.

I also agree that Ammo most likely makes it as a winger at the NHL level. The defensive responsibilities are just too much at that level for most players.
