At the airport, waiting to board my originally scheduled 10:17 flight to London. The plane we were supposed to take has been sitting at the gate since 130 pm. About 10 minutes before boarding they tell us there is a mechanical issue. After about 10 more minutes, they change our gate and our plane. How do you realize that a plane that has been sitting here since 130pm now has a mechanical issue 45 minutes before takeoff? Still haven't started boarding the new plane

Just as I hit enter, get a notification that it has been delayed until 1120

Because the airline industry is the most poorly managed industry in the country, and I'll hear no arguments to the contrary.

The new plane is smaller than the original, so now they dont have enough room for everyone. I guess the silver lining is I have a seat and there was another plane available

What time tomorrow? I don't know the bar closing time situation at the airports, but if that was like an 8 AM flight, you could bet your ass I would take that $1200, drink the rest of the night at some terminal bar, and then crash out on the early morning flight across the pond.

They were giving a voucher for a night at the Marriott. Not sure what time the flight tomorrow was. Wife woke up because she has a 730am flight from the Netherlands. I told her about the situation and she would not have been happy if I took the voucher. The bar closed around 930...when I was supposed to originally board

It’s what, an 8 hour flight? She’d calm down by then. Take the voucher, drink, buy her an im sorry gift, profit!

Anyway

I was browsing some websites re: post wwii events in Czechoslovakia and found interesting pictures from approx 1946 when the US army delegation came to Prague castle to return some boxes full of nazi documents. Anyway, what caught my eye is the MP car in one of those pictures. Looks like Tatra 87, one of the first aerodynamic cars, highly influential as well. I had no idea US MP had that one too, a Czechoslovak car

London is only a 7 hour flight I think, but when you factor in time change, it becomes 12, which means he basically lost the entire day. You almost have to take an overnight flight when you're flying overseas as to not waste any precious vacation time.
