Andersson has a mere secondary assist and a 36% shot share at even strength this season, hasn't been noticeable at all carrying the puck or making any kind of plays.

I get his usage has been less than ideal, but he's been shit.

After seeing how Chytil has played in Hartford and the past few games, I started to trust Quinn more when it comes to player development. However these decisions are objectively bad, and you don't have to buy into the anti-Quinn hysteria to see that. You can not preach meritocracy and then bench a young kid who has been playing well for a veteran who is horrible analytically and by just watching the games. Ffs man, at least send down Lias or Howden and stop preaching meritocracy if you aren't going to practice what you preach. Quick way to lose the locker room.

Too many of you guys are overreacting. Relax. Especially for a young guy, it's sometimes beneficial to take a seat back and relax.

Plus you always want to reward guys who are practicing hard. It's overlooked but it sends the right message to the team.

You guys read way, way too much into these things.

Yes, Lindgren doesn't matter because Quinn chose to sit him for a game. FFS people, get a grip on reality.

i have zero problem sitting lindgren for one game if he deserves that type of treatment. hes played overall very well so hes sitting why ?

i have a big problem sitting lindgren to make room for marc staal however. reintroducing staal back into this lineup at the expense of a kid whos done a pretty darn good job sends the wrong message.

these kids have eyes and they can see that marc staal is a boderline nhl'er. what message does that send ? and tbh, skjei had another tough game or hajek as well. both should sit before ryan.

im not a big quinn guy- never have been since his mishandling of the ADA situation last season.

this having to put staal back in because "we need him and hes a good player" narrative is a joke and its coming at the expense of a young player who was doing a nice job now being scratched.

im not a fan of that.

its like you are reading this off talking points. do you believe this ?

beneficial ? lindgren played well. he didnt struggle. hes +3 after 3 games. kids defensively responsible and hes been very good. its beneficial for him to take a night off and to watch marc staal ? really.

practicing hard ? seriously. hes BEEN PLAYING GAMES HARD

you cant be serious right now....

I get his usage has been less than ideal, but he's been ****.

I realize he's a "young guy" and that makes him supposedly good.

But I've NEVER seen anything from Lias that screams he's going to be.

Might end up being a WORSE pick than McIlrath when it's all said and done.

This is just further evidence that Quinn has a long way to go to be a quality NHL coach. The fact that we won a couple of games changes nothing. Look at what Trotz is getting out of a very mediocre Islanders roster.

I mean, getting taken to coaching school by DJ Smith the other night should have been evidence enough.

I think it's too early for that but any Andersson hype left is all due to where he was selected in the draft. But I agree with the prospect of him being a top-6 player in the league is dwinlining by a hair.

I also don't disagree with the posters who say he should get a look at 2nd line center, but acting like scratching him for a game is ruining his development is a joke.

I like the lineup changes...the complete lack of overreactions, panic and hot takes during a winning streak was unsettling. quinn has gotten this place & twitter back to normal lol

McIlrath takes out Kakko, and the 2010 10th overall pick continues to be the gift that keeps on giving.
This was my thought too. But my caveat was that it would be a weird accidental clumsy play, like falling off the stadiums second deck during an interview right on to KK’s knee.

I don't want to go down a rabbit hole but that is not the case.

McIlrath was a bad pick from day one because fundamentally he just wasn't a good player and was a huge project.

Lias has the talent and tools but he is getting yo-yo'd so much that I don't think we are putting him in a position to succeed. I feel like that the organization should shoulder a good bit of the blame if Lias doesn't succeed where as McIlrath it was mostly on him.

Quinn’s wheel of accountability only applies to certain players, that’s why people have an issue with it. Zero reason for Lias to be sitting before Howden who outside of one game has looked atrocious even though he’s been given tons of opportunity to succeed, far more than Lias.

Have your opinions about Lias’ ceiling and talent level but it’s beyond a doubt that he has been put in the worst possible situations to succeed ever since day 1.

Ahh the great Dylan McIlrath! Thanks for the memories.

Don't want to necessarily debate it, but I don't feel Lias has the talent and tools to be a top-6 NHL forward. I don't believe he should have been drafted 7 OA. Could be become a full-time NHL player? No doubt, but I see him as a third line 25 point a year player that was a wasted pick at 7.

Just like McIlrath. At least McIlrath, if he developed, could have been a crease clearer. I'm NOT defending the McIlrath pick, just saying what the possibilities could have been.

Andersson can absolutely still become a middle-6 center.

At his age, Brandon Dubinsky was still toiling away with average numbers in Hartford.

Honestly I think worst case scenario you end up with a solid physical defensive forward who brings leadership characteristics, but not much offense. That's still ten times the player McIlrath ever was or will be.

4th line C and 6th D get scratched, board loses its mind.
I think it's Lindgren sitting for Staal.

That's a double-edged sword. Lindgren has been good. Staal is Staal.

If McDavid has his own tier at the top, Staal has his own at the bottom.

I mean, I'm sure, but if we all knew it was gonna play out like this, and it plays out like this, it's sort of on "us" when we lose it.

Lias had a strong camp and was very good in the early games but has ben a bit up and down lately. I the abstract I have no big issue with him sitting for one game.

My issue is that Brett Howden is looking like hot garbage on any given night but is given the A-OK from the coach every single time - so there is no incentive for him to do anything differently.

So not only is Lias not being pushed down the lineup by a strong center corps - it's quite the contrary where he should at least have been given a shot on the 3rd line by now in Howden's place. Lias is having his development hindered by barely playing and Howden is in turn having his development hindered by the coach seemingly encouraging bad play.

The odd infatuation with Howden from Dave goes back to the first camp he attended where he was our worst forward in each of his preseason games but still made the team as 3C. I still have hope for Brett, but I don't think he is being done any favors by our coaching staff.
