Found this quote from Lemieux from when he was in juniors. Well spoken for a 17 year old kid but it also tells me he understands his role and how to adapt to play with skill players. He specifically mentions not always worrying about his numbers but creating space for the skilled line mates. I really think he can be the Wilson/Kuznetsov/Ovie to our Panarin/Zibanejad or Chytil/Kaako.

I’ve been playing with Andreas Athanasiou and Zach Hall, and playing with guys like that you really have to learn to be defensive minded but you have to learn to have offensive instincts and know where those guys are going to be. I think the offensive side of my game – the pure sense of moving the puck quickly and getting into open ice – that’s definitely improved for me this year. What a game, I was on discord in a chat with Habs and Rangers (and for some reason a few Devils fans who were "hate watching") and it was really toxic and heated lol the way I like it!! Such a satisfying win after seeing the Habs fans talk so much shit about the Rangers while they were up 4-0.

Kreider also very good this game. He appears to be trying to incorporate hitting into his game lately. As long as he keeps it clean it can be a very useful dimension for the team.

We really need to take Minnesota serious in the next game though. I mean there have been signs this year that this team can on any given night beat anyone--which means to me the talent is there--it's just that they have to play more consistently and they have to start beating weaker teams and not take them for granted.

Sick f***ing game boys as the heart and pride of this team cannot be questioned. The consistency of this team certainly can be but no way anyone can say this team of ours isn't a pain in the f***ing ass to have to play against no matter the score. This is the shit that's going to happen when you have such a young team. 2 years from now, this is all going to pay off when we will be Cup contenders.

Anyways, Lemieux I continue to say is the heart and soul of this team. He has to be resigned at end of the year. His offensive skills are severely underrated and I think he can get even better offensively to where eventually he could become a 20-20 type guy with alot of sand paper added to it. I just love his style of play and like I said, Gorton has to re sign him and I'm confident he will.

Oh and what's sweet, those of us who remember the game back in '08 when the Habs came back on us when we were up 5-0 at the Bell Center(I was there with my Montreal born wife) and lost 6-5, well we can finally put that shit to bed as we finally got them bastards back 11 years later....lol

That's some win right there. Lemieux and Howden had good games. Buch turned Price inside out on his goal, Chytil looked fantastic all game and Panarin is a wizard with the puck.

On the other hand, Hajek was not good at all, and DeAngelo had an awful game. Gettinger should draw back in for Haley. He provides nothing.

If McKegg is out, we need a center to come up. Should be Nieves. Andersson cannot come back after 2 games. He needs to stay down and work on his game. Good news is he scored tonight too.

Exercised some old demons in that building. That 5 goal comeback was brutal nearly 10 years ago, now we can look back years from now about this one and we'll have a great memory.

Lemieux: 9 pts in 20 games playing 13:47 a night.
I'd like to have 2 more of him on the team because of the consistent energy and attitude he brings.

He might not drive a line offensively, but he can play the workman role and has the skill to make some plays.

Yeah he’s definitely defense first but he might surprise us all as the season carriers on.

When the Rangers first traded for him, there was a lot written about him being a “second tier” prospect, especially in the Boston blogosphere. My very reliable Minnesota contact told me he would be much better once he got out from under the lousy coaching at the University of Minnesota. His exact words; “Michael Sauer”. Damn good analysis.

Lemieux’s conversion as the PP ended to make it 4-3 was the ‘buckle your seat belt’ moment where you knew this one would get insane...Just too much time left in the game, Montreal with the L streak on their back. Could smell it from a mile away at that Lemieux goal.

Icing murdered the Habs third period. I lost count. I’m sure Carp will note it in the postgame...

A shame Lemieux was two inches to the right from getting the hatty. Well deserved is an understatement. Don’t think the body can endure the beating he’s taking long term, appreciate it while he can. Oh, and he looks damn proud of the beating, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
