A lot of the time it's just a confidence thing. Draisatl probably slowly feels like he "belongs". You hear that from a lot of players in interviews about when they were younger.

The guy told Mac T last year before the season that he felt junior would do him good for another year. He was honest. Then they keep him up 39 games lol.

Yeah what was that? I know TOR had a PP so it was 3v4 but when it ended their extra guy stayed out and another Cane came off the bench so it was 4v4 for nearly a minute.
How do the refs not catch that?

That's how it works. There's nothing for them to catch. They go back to 3v3 at the next whistle. Probably because it's slightly more awkward to get a player off at the exact time they're supposed to than just adding a player from the other team.
