Our entrances on PP1 are near perfect right now.

The formation looks a little odd, dropping to two guys coming in at the same time, but I'm guessing that's so Panarin has three options. Or more accurately, that the defenders have three options to cover; he just stickhandled in and slipped it over to Kakko each time.

On the same token. I’ve felt this all along with him, and the way they are deploying him thus far this year continues to speak to it.
The rangers are gonna give hajek a chance to take that 1LD next to trouba and lock it down as a capable minute eating pairing. (At least for the time being: cuz as long as he can handle the minutes, the experience is invaluable. and if in a couple years time, if we got someone who can be a more dynamic game changer while handling the d responsibilities, then great hajek can slide down and become an advantage on a Lower pairing)

And if that happens and howden becomes that 20-20 high compete high motor 3C he has written all over him.

Your suddenly looking at a compotent 1st pairing (probably ideally suited to be high end #3), a 3C, and the wildcard of what does hanks son become.

(Edit: and this year’s second: henriksson? the final piece)

Wonder what all those saying Gorton got hosed by yzerman will say then?

All with time though right. Short sample sizes

But within the context of the potential of how that trade might turn out for the rangers is why JT Miller got included at the ends (it’s obvious they really coveted hajek and howden, the 1sts was built in from the drop) and to get it done yzerman got Gorton to give him miller to seal the deal, when from what I heard zucc was the other piece along with mcD in the trade talks up until the deadline when yzerman pulled a last minute demanding of the better player he knew wasn’t in the rangers plan long term and knew gorts would do it bc he was locked in on these pieces and it would have been really hard for gorts to not include miller instead.

I’m pissed I missed this one. But at least everyone’s saying good things about this game. Staal and Hank are probably getting worried, but I would like to hope they are team-first guys.

I gave Strome a star. He has done a very good job filling in for Mika, is playing hard, had the game winning goal, and I heard his name actually a couple of times in key spots in the defensive zone; Strome has a good active stick in passing lanes in the defensive zone and you saw it quite a few times tonight because Nashville loves the extra pass
Same here. I had
Georgiev
Chytil
Strome

Lias actually got over 10 mins, and imo didn't look bad overall. Also, it's astounding just how much difference having Lindgren over Staal has made in our transition play, and from there, our defense overall. That we've done what we have in the last 2 games without Mika is equally surprising

Really nice win.

I don't see how Marc Staal should ever be allowed near this lineup again.

ADA - No
Hajek, Lindgren, Fox all had really nice games - No
Trouba - Obviously no

Skjei - the weakest of the group, but still serviceable.

Your timing is terrible. Skjei had a monster game (outside of just one bad rush attempt to carry a puck across the blue line when he should have dump it).

Really surprised he’s not getting more love.

I don’t think they ever asked him to waive before. And before you bring up what you’re going to bring up, asking if he wants to stay through a rebuild isn’t asking him to waive

yes, sorry, technically different but same gist

He looks like a young Jagr, before the mullet.

When did Jagr not have a mullet? Are we talking like in utero

We are playing much more balanced hockey after Ziba went out. Not just trying to lean on the top line and blow the other team away, but smart solid 4-line hockey. A bit of a blessing in disguise so to speak. Now hopefully Ziba can come back ASAP and we can keep being a 4-line team.

Our Ds are moving the puck really well, of course TDA and Fox are sick with it, but Trouba, Hajak and Lindgren also moves it perfectly OK. You could really tell tonight how Nashville's forecheck really struggled early, they just couldn't get a hold of us. There were so few occasions when we just moved the puck to someone that got lined up by a forechecker, instead we looked up, skated around the first guy if we had to, and played ourselves out of our end. That is just winning hockey, its so hard to play against.

I hate DQs comments on how Staal is going to come back in and stay there. The young Ds are just better.

Hajak is looking great. I thought that Howden had his best game of the year too. Not because a few plays really stood out, but he just came right into situations a lot more. Contributed to his line. Won board battles. Made smart plays with the puck.

Panarin is so good it almost a bit scary, he is turning Ryan Strome into a star. That is how good he is. BTW, Jesper Fast compliments Panarin really well. Fast is smarter than he gets credit for, he understands Artemi well.

Chytil is playing in the NHL as he have in the AHL for a long time. Some are saying, wow, look at how much the AHL have done for him. The thing is, I think its just a lot about general maturity with him. He isn't wide eyed anymore. That comes with age and maturity.

I hate the Brendan Smith signing and think its a waste to have him in the line-up. But with that said, the guy is really shrewd on the ice in many situations. Must be a pain to play against for Ds, he knows all their tricks along the boards...

To your first observation - I think it’s just a coincidence, pretty obvious that the true connection is Staal being replaced by Lindgren.

I hope more people are starting to come around about Strome. His sample size of good play is getting larger.
