We are playing much more balanced hockey after Ziba went out. Not just trying to lean on the top line and blow the other team away, but smart solid 4-line hockey. A bit of a blessing in disguise so to speak. Now hopefully Ziba can come back ASAP and we can keep being a 4-line team.

Our Ds are moving the puck really well, of course TDA and Fox are sick with it, but Trouba, Hajak and Lindgren also moves it perfectly OK. You could really tell tonight how Nashville's forecheck really struggled early, they just couldn't get a hold of us. There were so few occasions when we just moved the puck to someone that got lined up by a forechecker, instead we looked up, skated around the first guy if we had to, and played ourselves out of our end. That is just winning hockey, its so hard to play against.

I hate DQs comments on how Staal is going to come back in and stay there. The young Ds are just better.

Hajak is looking great. I thought that Howden had his best game of the year too. Not because a few plays really stood out, but he just came right into situations a lot more. Contributed to his line. Won board battles. Made smart plays with the puck.

Panarin is so good it almost a bit scary, he is turning Ryan Strome into a star. That is how good he is. BTW, Jesper Fast compliments Panarin really well. Fast is smarter than he gets credit for, he understands Artemi well.

Chytil is playing in the NHL as he have in the AHL for a long time. Some are saying, wow, look at how much the AHL have done for him. The thing is, I think its just a lot about general maturity with him. He isn't wide eyed anymore. That comes with age and maturity.

I hate the Brendan Smith signing and think its a waste to have him in the line-up. But with that said, the guy is really shrewd on the ice in many situations. Must be a pain to play against for Ds, he knows all their tricks along the boards...

Second full team good effort in a row with Staal scratches. Don’t wanna pile on the guy or blame it entirely on him but it can’t be fully ignored. Lindgren is just more effective in the modern game. Better at moving the puck, better skater and a good solid defender.

Kakko and Chytil both had good nights. Fox was impressive yet again.

Georgiev with another good game, had some post and rebound luck but another super solid game from him.

It’s 2019 rolling 2 good goalie at an almost even split is the ideal path moving forward and both of our guys are good. Not sure why people in the GDT are calling for Hank to be the backup he’s been good this year too and the last couple years showed having a tandem is better than having a workhorse anymore. Luckily we’re in the position to do just that. None of last year’s vezina nominees played more than 47 games. Times are changing.

Cascading effects. When you no longer have that one guy who constantly forces the other four guys to rotate and cover for him, each of them can play their position.

People are quick to say this is overblown but perhaps it isn't.

Staal tries his best to defend, I'll give him that, but he's absolutely sub-NHL at transition.

That has a domino effect more so than bad defense.

Kakko was fine. Looked great on the PP and nice power move for the breakaway. Quinn shortened the bench in the third. He's an 18-year-old in a man's body with like ten games of NHL experience. He'll improve and his explosiveness and reaction time in the D zone will as he matures. Kid can barely get into an R-rated movie yet alone drink lol.
