Yea. Jagr was just flat out dominant. Honestly, it was his third or fourth season here that impressed me the most. I can't remember which season it was, but about mid-way through the season he was asked why he wasn't scoring at the dominant pace of previous years and he said that he was getting older and needed to conserve himself for the playoffs. He looked far less dominant in the regular season that year.

Then the playoffs rolled around and he played well above a PPG. He was back to his dominant self. It was unreal to see a player conserve themselves purposefully for an entire NHL season and then just flip a switch. Just an insane specimen.

He was lights out against Atlanta in round 1, but not so great against the Sabres when they knocked us out.

And the other side of it?

Teammates feeling like teammates rather than a bunch of people collecting paychecks together.

I dunno. I understand I was brought up watching a different brand of hockey than today, but I still feel like showing you're physically into a game and willing to be aggressive for your teammates helps overall team mentality.

I know it's a not a fancy stat. I know it's bad to be in the PK... But I also know I'd prefer them stick up for each rather other than just watch the other team physically assault their teammates. If that means they have to kill a penalty... Or even if it means losing a game... At this stage of "the build" i don't mind it. I don't mind the younger guys seeing that respect for their wellbeing.

lots of us at the game today (well, I live here). Met Amazing Kreiderman between periods. Nice guy - showed me a pic of him and Lias with a poster he made specifically for Lias. Very funny!
