I guess things even out in the end, as the saying goes...we stole points in Ottawa & Toronto, but dropped points these last 2 games.
I like our record (6-2-3) especially having played almost 3/4 of them on the road, although not many divisional games (2). So I'll take those points and be happy, especially since many our top players have been very average at best, so far
What annoys me though is I don't understand the strategy to get Laf & Kakko going? I understand and agree that they need to play better, no denying that, but you can tell their confidence is so low right now, that it seems like they will never succeed playing this way.
Coaching is a big part of a player's development, especially young, highly touted draft picks, and how they're used.
I won't get into how other, previous first and second OA guys get tons of playing time, PP time, OT usage, etc...I'm looking at putting these guys in positions to succeed.
Why is Kakko playing on a line with Panarin and Strome who like to dangle and play an east/west game and pass to one another all the time?
Why is Laf playing on a fourth line, who's job is to make sure they don't get scored on, by dumping pucks out and just wasting time, never mind creating offense? Explain why after playing barely 9 minutes, he's out therc in OT, against McD & Drai? Maybe it's me, but that's not a position to succeed!
Georgiev...wow! He was a sound ,technical goalie when he started with us, but now he's just a mess positionally. On top of that, he's not very mentally strong either...bad combination for an NHL goalie...
