I thought the Child was being a touch dramatic, but you really do need to call the police on yourself so you can be dragged off to jail to eat nothing but eggs and crumbs.

If pumpkin pie was good, I think I would know. Pumpkin pie and apple pie, while we are establishing the truth, are both garbage foods and feeding them to POWs should be considered a war crime.

I could say the same about key lime and lemon meringue

It is true. You could say that, as a human being with the faculty of communication nothing stops you. I could say that the Moon lands on Earth during the day to sing a capella jazz covers of techno songs.

Both our theoretical statements would be equally true.

Apologies if this starts to go way off topic, but I have actually been going down a huge WWII rabbit hole lately. I forget exactly what kicked it off (it might've actually been someone on here mentioning USS Texas), but it is still mind blowing to try and understand just how brutal things were then.

I think it's so difficult to imagine because of just how different things are these days, but life seemed almost meaningless during that time. I've been watching countless veteran accounts from DDay and other battles, rewatched Band of Brothers and now on the Pacific. Netflix shows, etc. What the world went through back then almost feels like fiction
I actually toured the Texas, when I lived in Baytown in the early 80s. It was a museaum anchored in Channelview.(Pasadina area) Tx.

They're doing some major drydock work on the Texas right now. Lots of interesting photos are out from the process.

I've never found any satisfying info on why Texas didn't have the triple expansion engines replaced during an extensive modernization that saw significant changes. Probably wouldn't have been a big deal to tack it on, especially since there were spare turbines around from ships cancelled due to treaty.

Beefette and The Child made pumpkin Pie on Monday night. But it took an eternity to cool, so The Child didn't get to have it before bed. She decided to blame me, even though I was entirely uninvolved. She declared it was the most unfair thing that has ever happened, and that she wished nobody had ever been born so the world wouldn't exist, and that everything would be made of metal. Then she mumbled about how much she wanted me to call the police on myself so I'd be dragged off to jail to eat nothing but eggs and crumbs.
With the exception of the fact that if nobody had ever been born how could anything be made of metal (or anything else for that matter) I see nothing wrong with her reasoning.

Your opinions on pie the other hand…

probably due to needing to install reduction gears and expense of the extra auxillary equiptment.. Evap and condensate systems ect.

Yeah, but the fuel efficiency upgrade for a ship that might have to operate the Pacific is very worthwhile; they'd also saved a ton of space by reducing boilers and removing an entire funnel and associated workings.
