I think it's okay to hold back credit for it if only to see what he does for Saturday. If he goes right back to Staal after a dominating win like this without him in the lineup, then there's not point in giving Quinn credit because it's just negated by putting him back in.

If he scratches Staal for even just one more game, then yeah it's good. Ideally, Staal gets scratched a lot more, but I'll take two consecutive games at a time. Baby steps.

But if we win next game, yet Staal is in the lineup, what then?

The singularity is reached?

Tampa still had a ton of chances.
Sure but not anywhere near most of the games this season. The team was much more in control in their own zone and did a good job of limiting chances and being in the right spots to be taking things away and clear rebounds and everything. Georgiev was excellent tonight but it’s not like we got shit pumped and won all on his back. This was a full team effort from him on out.

I'm not sure what game you were watching but it indeed was much better tonight. Tampa is going to get their chances because of the offensive talent they have but the rangers played much better in their own end.

I was watching this game.

And since I make it very clear that my take on a game is in no way swayed by giving a shit what random people on the internet think or scoring brownie points with the same people for piling on the whipping boy of the year,

no I don’t think the way to summarize the change in this game was just “Staal being out.”

Fil's substantive beginning of his NHL career overshadowed by the beginning of the end for Staal. He's definitely physically ready now. He'll struggle finding the drive each night but finally a bright spot out of our rookie forwards.

Amazing how good a coaches system looks when players do their jobs.
We might not be as consistent as a professional team should be, but at least we know what it takes to win in this league. And when we do as coached, we look awfully good at it.

No Staaling tonight. Rangers kept the pedal to the metal.

Meh, I do think this win was on Georgie's back. If it were Hank, we would have guys stroking him off like he invented electricity.
Georgie makes tough saves look easy and, tonight, did an amazing job with controlling rebounds.
