Georgiev was great tonight but Hank has been good this season too. The boxcar stats look pedestrian but there's some charts floating around showing how great he's been doing considering his workload and the quality of chances he's been facing. I believe he's 3rd in the league in GSAA.

Goaltending hasn't been an issue at all. Hank isn't 2012 Hank anymore but he's still good. They can for sure be a good tandem this year. The team played better tonight than they have all season. If they play close to this level every game, they're going to win a lot or at least get much more favorable results because their goalies are both good enough to put them over the top when the team plays structured and sound defensively.

Tonight actually looked like defensive zone structure has been practiced, nowhere near the amount of unchecked players, open passing lanes or lost battles in front or down low. Lots of good positioning, smart sticks and most importantly to me: smart pressure in the D zone. No standing around and watching. Players applied pressure at the perfect times as opposed to most of this season when they'd be standing and watching in the D zone and the other team could just do what they want and we were always a step behind.

Very impressed with the effort all around. Now I'd like to see them carry this effort forward and play with this kind of structure going forward. Losing is one thing but if they lose while looking how they did tonight then it is more palatable. Losing while getting outshot 45-20 and looking like pee wees out there is so disheartening.
Tampa still had a ton of chances.

Young teams can be schizo. Your going to have games like tonight and Sunday over the course of the season. Just enjoy watching the kids grow into their roles. Real happy for Chytil tonight. I hope he keeps it going.

I'm absolutely shocked Quinn had the balls to bench staal...

I'm less shocked that he's getting like no credit for doing so.
i’m happy he did it and it was a good move but making good personnel decisions should come with the territory of being a coach lol

i will give him credit for doing it rather quickly. i feel like you don’t resort to this until game 30 or something

Definitely Staals best game of the season.

I don’t recall him making a single mistake all game.

I think it's okay to hold back credit for it if only to see what he does for Saturday. If he goes right back to Staal after a dominating win like this without him in the lineup, then there's not point in giving Quinn credit because it's just negated by putting him back in.

If he scratches Staal for even just one more game, then yeah it's good. Ideally, Staal gets scratched a lot more, but I'll take two consecutive games at a time. Baby steps.
