Seriously though, I'm glad Quinn finally feels comfortable enough to do this. As a rookie coach I couldn't blame him for playing his vet who's basically team captain.

On the other hand, the matchup D is likely to be harder to play against. There are positives to both approaches.

I really hope Lindgren simply has a solid game. Not looking for any specific metric. Just some gap control, steady play, minimal mistakes. I want him to be a regular. I’m a fan.

He has been our worst D, which the quality of his play isn't why he's been in the lineup anyway. What I would say is that I wouldn't expect this to be the beginning of a permanent seat for him. Probably more along the lines of a rotation.

For sure, unless somehow the D takes off and plays really well and never looks back

But it is good to see a little accountability for someone like Staal. Sure he's a vet and blah blah but he's been baaaaad and escaping responsibility for it because he's a vet for far too long.

I hope the entire defense plays well and the forwards help out. That way we won't get a carousel of D sitting out with whatever justification to get Staal back in.

I think Brent Seabrook sitting helped pave the way.
