While I do think it's only a matter of time before Nash starts potting a few more, I have to say that it's absolutely hilarious that the people who clamored for Nash and **** on Dubinsky have started using the same arguments to support Nash's low goal total that the pro-Dubinsky folks used last year (he PK's! he has assists! he's got a good +/-!) and some that we didn't see (he gives really intense looking interviews! ).

I didnt bash Dubinsky, but math would say his issue was different.

Over his career, his shooting percentage was roughly 9%.

In 09/10 and 10/11 his shooting percentage shot up to 12%.

And in his 24 goal season, he had by far the most shots on net he had in his career. Over 200.

If you plug all that in to some mean models, he should average 15-18 goals a year on somewhere around 150-170 shots a season.


Its a totally different thing to be projecting improvement year to year. Regression models dont like to do that.

But regression models work perfect for a guy who really is having an off year, or a couple off games.
