Yikes. Rarely does a coach call out a player like that because of his play. I figured he skipped practices or something. He must be having a really bad stretch.

Well he hasn't scored yet. Hasn't been noticeably awful either. Certainly not the worst player or the first you'd drop.

Alot of people think Torts is just making an example of a guy we can win without but who also isn't a total scrub to send a message.

Im still curious if he came in out of shape a bit... was he playing during the lockout?

Always more of an issue with the players who are 240+ pounds.

He is a skilled player. Just his shooting percentage right now is as bad as Nash's. So is Hagelins.

Those guys regress to the mean and get their shooting percentage at least double what it is now. Those three arent going to be shooting 4-5% all season.

I don't agree and I'll leave it at that.:)

“@AGrossRecord: Torts includes Lundqvist in those under-performing: "I'm not going to bench Hank. There's no question he needs to play better."â€

Boards want Eminger, we get Eminger.

Boards want Rupp gone, he's gone.

Boards want Miller, we get Miller.

Boards want Miller moved up, bingo.

Boards blame Boyle for everything, he's scratched.

Torts reads HF.

Scoring isnt the reason he got benched.

Torts continued - "So in Brian’s situation, I don’t think he’s done a good job killing penalties. I don’t think he’s done a good enough job blocking shots. He’s just been very inconsistent. "

Trade The Bickel for Stamkos!

You can think hes a monkey's butt for all I care.

Doesnt matter that simple regression to the mean will have him scoring a lot of goals at some point if he continues to get so many shots.

Math > Opinions

He has 1 more point than Nash. Nash is +4 while Gaborik is +2. Nash has killed penalties and done pretty well doing it. Nash also has more shots on net.

The only thing gaborik is doing better is he has a better shooting percentage. Everything else Nash is clearly outplaying him.

I love the way Nash always looks directly into the camera during interviews. This guy is intense and awesome.

While I do think it's only a matter of time before Nash starts potting a few more, I have to say that it's absolutely hilarious that the people who clamored for Nash and **** on Dubinsky have started using the same arguments to support Nash's low goal total that the pro-Dubinsky folks used last year (he PK's! he has assists! he's got a good +/-!) and some that we didn't see (he gives really intense looking interviews!).

IIRC, wasn't the constant refrain from last year that "none of that mattered because he gets 4+ million to score goals and he ain't doing it"?

Again--it's an early season slump in a strange, lockout shortened year. I'm certain Nash will turn it around. I just think the hypocrisy is delightful.

As for the game, I think the Boyle benching will have a positive impact on the Boyle crew--MDZ and Stepan with big games, and Gaborik with a multi-goal game.

These boards will go insane even by their standards if we win by 3+ goals without Boyle.

"SEE HE WAS THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG ZOMGROFTLMAOBBQLITRNYC!!!!!!!!!!11!!111!!!1one1!!"

benching boyles not the worst thing in the world, although i dont think hes been that bad, hes been rocketing shots off goalies pads all season:help: but hes a guy who is well liked around the locker room and the team can win without him, message has been sent to him and to rest of the team second and first liners are next.

looking for a big game out of gaborik, hes always played well against the islanders, LGR:handclap:
