I am intrigued. I'll be more intrigued when we hear about what the movie hopes to accomplish in terms of tone and style because while I respect the creativity of Hideaki Anno, Shin Godzilla and its blood-barfing cosmic horror cancer monster take on Big G didn't really do it for me. I don't need campy space fights (though I'm not against campy space fights) but I want my Godzilla to look suitably big and lizardy.

Between it and the next Transformers movie 2023 has the potential to be very fun or maybe a trainwreck. We'll see.

The fact that it's in post-war Japan gives me hope that nuclear bombs once again created Big Boy.

RIP Kevin Conroy. The voice that defined Batman for so many years.

This one sucks hard. He is the definitive Batman for me and probably the actor who did the best job of being both Bruce Wayne and Batman in a way that makes them seem both obviously different but also still the same character while also allowing each side to be more than just a cardboard cutout (Bruce could be serious without just being costumeless Batman, Batman could have moments of levity while still seeming appropriate to him).

(For anyone that hasn't seen the DCAU Justice League series: trust me, this makes sense in context of its episode)

Justice league unlimited is so good even as an adult. Very sad hes gone now

The whole DCAU remains an excellent watch, Batman and Justice League in particular. Justice League has some episodes that are better spiritual adaptations of classic comic stories than works that were actually meant to adapt them.

Hereafter is a better "Death of Superman" story than the actual Death/Return of Superman

A Better World (the Justice Lords story) is a better "evil mirror universe/Crime Syndicate" type story than the actual DC animated feature that did the Crime Syndicate

For the Man Who Has Everything is apparently the only adaptation of an Alan Moore work that he didn't hate enough to demand his attribution credit be removed from (which is the closest thing you'll ever get to legitimate praise out of Moore )

And then you still have Starcrossed, The Savage Time, the whole JLU Cadmus arc, basically anything with The Question in it (the fact that they never even tried to do a live action Question with Jeffrey Combs in the 90s/early 2000s is a crime of the highest order).

Plus there's a pitch-perfect voice cast. I honestly might even like George Newburn over Tim Daly as Superman. But beyond that are all the great guest stars. Rob Zombie plays not-Cthulu! What more could anyone want from a show?

Dammit, now I want to go watch the show again.

Young Justice is a solid show if you haven't given it a try yet. Season 1 and 2 especially. 3 and 4 are a little weaker but still enjoyable.

Also, although this wasn't voiced by Conroy, I still think Batman: The Brave and the Bold wasn't given a fair shake because of the animation style. That show was also really really good.

Teen Titans Go, I liked Young Justice and all the other iterations of Teen Titans. I had a subscription to the comic when I was young. I <3 Teen Titans Go it's so silly and fun. I enjoy some of the running gags and I love the songs.

Batman: Brave and the Bold was super. I liked that animation style.

I really enjoyed it in the early seasons but this most recent one dragged so hard I dont think ill continue watching it.

When we kick the bucket how is LS gonna know to post our obits here?

I think of this because I had wicked food poisoning yesterday. Like terribad. Got an I.V. and I'm feeling better now. Highly recommend getting an I.V. for food poisoning. They put some stuff in it to specifically help reduce acid production and keep my system from moving everything through so quickly. Basically they flipped the "Purge Everything NOW" switch back to off.

Only if Sharks and HF Boards are mentioned :D

Stealing LS's thunder for a minute because I saw this morning that another piece of my childhood died after already losing Kevin Conroy earlier in the week.

It's being reported that Jason David Frank, aka Tommy from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, passed away.

For anyone in the mood now, it looks like the Power Rangers franchise has a youtube channel that has the vast majority of the franchise's nearly 30-year history available to watch including the entirety of the series which Frank starred in (MMPR, Zeo, and Turbo)

The franchise was also apparently set to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year with a new series that would feature appearances from a ton of former cast members over the years and celebrate the history of the brand before Hasbro and Netflix rebooted it with a new series that seemingly wouldn't use any Sentai footage for its action scenes. I hadn't seen anything about Frank appearing in it (he had allegedly chosen to retire from the role after a guest spot in a series a couple of years ago.) but now it seems as if it's going to have to serve as a bit of a memorial to him. :(

RIP OG Green Ranger.

In lighter news, finally caved cuz of the amazon sale:

It's very purdy.

I've waffled about getting it a few times. Because on the one hand I don't have display space at the moment (he says as he has like a half-dozen other new Transformers from over the last couple months including one being delivered today and my singular big-budget purchase of 2021 estimated for delivery within the next month ) and I'm waiting on a sale since it doesn't appear that Amazon.ca is interested in discounting it right now. But on the other hand me wantee.

One day I'm sure I'll get it. But not right now. I quite literally don't have the space to put it anywhere and don't want to leave it in the box for 6 months or anything.

EDIT: I love that the box has to say "model converts" because apparently there's this weird legal sticking point whereby Hasbro's case to own the term "transformer" and "transform" for their IP would weaken if they used the latter as a verb to describe their own product in marketing copy. It's exactly the kind of ass-backwards legal nonsense that fits right in with every other aspect of legal systems.
