GDT: 1/25/25 - 7:00PM EDT - Tampa Bay @ Detroit

Another close one goal game. At least we’re losing the “right way” (not getting blown out that is).

What’s concerning is that almost all of our offense runs through one man.

Ohnwell, their goalie had the game of his life, and Tampa missed a couple of great chances. On to the next one.
AT some point you run out of "next ones"
Can't say that forever.

I'm starting to wonder if JBB thinks he's given Cooper enough to work with?

We're in a playoff spot and it's not like the guys in front of us have some big lead. It's tiresome to see pointed out but its true, we have many more games that the results we can hand wave away.

Lots to complain about, but on the bright side, this was the last day of the brutal January schedule. Two days off and we get to start a 5 game home stand against Chicago. 8 of our next 10 are at home.

I'm still bitter about how the schedule played out this year. There's no doubt cramming 16 games into a month has a big effect on the team's form. Think about a guy like Geekie, who used to only play 2 games a week and is probably worn down from playing every other day.

I hang on to how we played in the first three months. It's too bad we have so many players in the Four Nations, that would have been a great way to give everyone some rest. It's so f***ing stupid that we had a bye week in October.

We didn't play badly but you just knew what kind of a night it was going to be with all those misses in the first period. For how great Hagel and Cirelli have played this year, they have to be top of the league with missed empty nets. It seems like every game at least one of them misses at least one completely open net. Cirelli with two this game.

That makeup game against Carolina smashed into it didn't help

Possible suspension for Lilleberg. The hit wasn't that bad and Compher was fine, but there was head contact. He only got a 2 min for interference. But I guess they want to send him a message, he's already 6th in the league in penalty minutes.

Makes sense, he never touched the puck.

My final take on this abysmal game is the only group worse than Lightning players shooting into an empty net were the officials. They game managed an embellishment call on a high stick?!?! because 5v3 would look bad then gave the Red Wings a power play after a scrum where we should have been on one and then gave us a power play after a scrum when they should have been on one.
