For those who missed player intros
Glad he's able to laugh about it
For those who missed player intros
It's going to be a long season, but hopefully there are enough games like tonight where you can pick out enough bright spots in a game we probably should've lost. Some random thoughts:
The gap between the top line and the rest of the forward group is hilariously large.
Kreider/Strome/Kakko may have shown something in camp to the coaches, but it clearly isn't translating to games. It's just 3 individuals kind of existing on the ice together. Some sparks of something with individual efforts but just no cohesion at all.
Trouba had a monster game. It'll be huge if he can be that guy consistently going forward.
Hank was mostly excellent. Kept the team in it even if that 3rd goal was a softie.
Howden had the kind of game I expect him to have. Unspectacular but played his role and scored a greasy goal that ended up being the game winner.
Andersson had some good moments but looked bad leaving Scheifele uncovered in front of the net for a goal. Lost his man a number of times in his own end. In his defense, that's a lot to ask of a young player.
Kakko started coming on at points during the game. You can tell he's going to be a hell of a player.
This team badly needs someone to step up and be a viable 2C.
Skjei was trash.
Staal generated a heck of a lot of offensive chances... for both teams.
ADA was kind of a mess. Looked bad letting Ehlers blow by him to set up Wheeler.
Hajek was all over the map. Said in the GDT he couldn't field a pass but then had some young McDonagh-esque moments with the puck on his stick.
Thought Scheifele was unbelievable for Winnipeg. Dominated a ton of shifts in our zoneZibby and Ehlers were the two best players on the ice.
Don't get how people are blaming Hank for that deflection goal.

Just have to pray that remains true when it actually matters. We don't have much luck thereLooks like Trouba and Panarin are worth what we are paying them. Both are elite players.
Other teams usually have more than 1 forward line and defenseman/pairing that aren’t a complete mess
His D still needs a lot of work. People really underrate the D side of being a Dman around here so ADA has gotten hyped a little too far.Was surprised to see ADA get burnt 2-3 times this game ending up in very good scoring chances and a goal. Hopefully it was just his timing and not lack of effort or speed
That line had their way with us the whole game. They obliterated us in every zone.Thought Scheifele was unbelievable for Winnipeg. Dominated a ton of shifts in our zone

Donnie enjoyed the game
Strome is just not that good. He was hot last season and unfortunately, we didn't move on that hot streak.
Panarin could carry his own line, but this group has chemistry. Some nerves, expect them to play better as the season progresses.
Hajek needs to keep his head up. Should come with reps, but he's getting killed. Just his 6th NHL game.
Please find more time for Andersson. He played well in limited minutes. Get him in Strome's spot soon.
Could see McKegg get into next game for someone like Namestnikov. He was not good. Even got demoted in the 3rd.
Hank was good, except for that Wheeler goal. I'd play Georgiev next game. Hank was shelled tonight, but stood up to it. Not sure he can do that over 60 games, so rest will be needed. Congrats on 450 Hank. Could get 500 by the end of next season
