I think we all should have expected some growing and adjustment pains. Tonight we're forcing it and the D pairings and the line combos and the goalie and the player deployment is not right. This has been miserable though.

That alone gets Laf and Kakko more time which is nice, but we're still not seeing Chytil get enough time and some of these combos (Kreider-Zib, especially) went sour years ago.

Unpopular opinion but I think we've also squeezed every drop out of the tube on Panarin-Strome at 5v5.

Yeah..... Strome kinda just needs to go and we need a 2C upgrade.

And we'd like to play Chytil more but what has he done to EARN IT?

It's because the top of the roster that everyone else takes cues from doesn't have the fire in them to make it happen. It's the same guys. We see the same circles in the ice. It's the same result.

I think they'll never gel, unfortunately. It doesn't seem like Kakko will ever get a feel for Panarin and Strome, and Laf for Mika and Kreider. These two pairs are just difficult to find that 3rd cog. Buch meshed, but that's not now

Yeah, I definitely wanna give it some time.

That being said, it's been an organizational habit across multiple coaches to settle into lines and combos that really don't work or worked for a bit, and we take like six ass yeas to realize it's not working anymore (McDonagh-Girardi, anybody?).

I hope Gallant corrects that when he settles in.

He had three goals last game albeit in exhibition and has been our most effective forward tonight.

EDIT: sarcasm detector broken perhaps

If they never do, and this is no exaggeration, the team won't make the playoffs for at least another 5 years. Not in this division/conference.

These aren't excuses. These are facts. This is why I give the coach and players some time. It's just too long of a season and so many things can happen. Gallant is a good coach and will have this team playing better.
