We’ve done this now multiple times. We started the play in series like this.

we started opening night last year like this

we started the preseason like this

and we’re doing it again

Quite literally, the Rangers had better 5v5 play, the special teams just aren’t there yet as compared to a team who’ve been together forever. Is no one else seeing that?

Whoever said we're running around and hitting instead of playing has a great point. We're trying to be something else that we're not and if I've learned anything from Avril Lavigne it's that I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated, life's like this, you and you fall, and you crawl, and you break and you take what you get, and you turn it into honesty and promise me I'm never gonna find you faking, no, no, no.
Is that quote from the 1st Avril Lavigne or the second Avril Lavigne?

My God, some one you guys need to take a Midol. It’s an 82 game season. This isn’t franchise mode in NHL 22 where you can lead the league in scoring. This team is still trying to bond, there were a lot pieces shipped out and brought in, it’s gonna take time. They played a great first period and had an awful second. The penalties seemed to have slowed them down. Let’s see how they come out in the third. Some of you are too much, why are we still talking about DeAngelo and Lemieux and so and so? Or Krapsoft? Some of you are so far behind you think you’re ahead.

The top 6 don't have a forecheck. Third line might need time to get a feel for each other. Vast majority of this team either can't get to the puck first or when they do, they don't know the next play to make
Bingo. Exactly the same issues as last year. If the 1st line is going to make vicious circles in the ice and refuse to go in a corner, games are gonna look like this.

The Kraken put up a more cohesive, competitive fight last night against a really good Vegas team. This isn't even a joke, it happened. Just last night.

But you know who looked like absolute horse shyt? Tampa. But that doesn't matter? Because after they look like shyt, they win Stanley Cups. Everyone knows what they can do.

Every loss is going to be a disaster until they finally make the playoffs, whether it's this year or next. Every game will be meltdown mania.

***Edit**** someone mentioned something similar above me..move along.

Gonna be patient with Gallant but so far it's just the same stupid lines only without Buchnevch and Blackwell.

That alone gets Laf and Kakko more time which is nice, but we're still not seeing Chytil get enough time and some of these combos (Kreider-Zib, especially) went sour years ago.

Unpopular opinion but I think we've also squeezed every drop out of the tube on Panarin-Strome at 5v5.

It's 1 game and it's an 82 game marathon of a season. Tampa lost 6-2 and looked terrible last night. I'm not making any judgements on this team until a quarter of the season is over. New coach, new system, new players. It takes time.
No offense but we said that last year with no camp/preseason/covid. Honestly done with the excuses but you're right it's game 1.
and I just can't drag and compare this with Tampa a team that "deserved" to come out a bit flat after seeing the banner lifted to the rafters.

The first game of the season, usually mixed in with several more within the first 10-15 or so games, and the last several games of the season, and some of the games in between, are just not the Rangers strong suit.

This is awesome

That makes perfect sense but... that kind of logical thought requires some effort.

It is much easier to throw a tantrum and provide absurd hot takes about our club after 40 minutes of play.

It's fun to bitch when you are getting shellacked 3-0 on opening night and have a roster with relatively high expectations (ie not to suck).

But I think deep down everyone knows that while we definitely need a "This is a bad hockey club," thread by 10:30 pm, you can't make any real judgment for a couple weeks.

They put one shot on goal in the second period. That’s not “better 5 on 5”. That’s not acceptable at all.
