That is his usual spot i believe. He goes to the front when there is a rotation (puck chasing and formation getting all messed up). I think at least :)

You're right, he typically is on that right side, running almost an umbrella formation across the top of the zone - but you have to audible during the play often

Zib has always had a cannon of a slapshot - just sometimes the accuracy is off, and that will happen this year as well; but, when it is on it is on. It's a volume you thing, and I am okay with that, let the guy keep booming it even if he is having an inaccurate stretch, the threat cannot be ignored by other teams.
Agreed on this. And he should be getting a lot more of them with Shattenkirk

Every season he spends some time in the middle of that PP box and its a waste. Once they put him back on the side boards and behind the net he excels. In the box they don't get his great passing or his board work.

The problem we had was that other teams are able to clog the shooting lanes easier. Shattenkirk is so good on the PP because he knows how to move with the puck, like a QB moving in the pocket, so as to draw the defense away from a certain play or make a new shooting lane open

I agree, but i am sure there is a plan at work here. Lets see what unfolds :)

I'd like to see them find a way to incorporate Chytil onto a PP unit- only 3:01 of ice that period. If he averages only 10-11 a game I'm not sure that's ideal developmentally irrespective of what line he plays on.

I'm not loving the way we're backing off in the defensive zone.

The transition and offensive zone stuff is good considering it's the first night.

I hate to pick on Staal but he threw the puck away twice in that period when he had like 3 guys to pass to in front of him and that led to a scoring chance against us.

Shattenkirk is assertive when he has the puck but not so assertive when he doesn't have clear possession.

He won't consistently hit those, because he isn't Stamkos or Ovechkin - but we should still feed him for those shots on the PP nonetheless, it is a good formula and a shot that teams cannot just ignore.

And if he's having an off-night, we have #77 or #22 ready at the top, or #36 or #89 ready on the right.
Buch looking really good on the PP, even ignoring his goal. Good control and good patience.

I recall him scoring a beautiful snapshot one-timer against Boston last year. His shot is excellent as well; wouldn't mind having the top of the umbrella feeding him a few one-time passes every now and then.

Even if Zibanejad isn't scoring with his shot, as long as he hits the net he'll create a lot of rebounds. What he can't do it completely miss the net a lot

Anyone have interest in dealing for Calvin Pickard from Vegas? McKenzie was saying that Vegas might be willing to trade a goalie. I'm not so sure Hank playing like this and Pavelec will be a good enough 1,2. I'd trade someone like Lettieri or Nieves for Pickard. We need someone who can split starts with Hank or close to it.

Saw good things from DD. Hard to knock off the puck. Could prove to be a great signing.

Absolutely agree with that, he is first and foremost a facilitator (a passer), who is best used along the boards :)
