The Senators would like to have a contract extension in place with Ullmark before they make the deal and there’s been speculation that’s what has been holding this trade up. We’re not sure that’s the case and it’s believed a big factor has been the asking price by the Bruins.
The Vegas Golden Knights and Detroit Red Wings are reportedly also involved in talks to acquire Ullmark.

Good post (as usual). The B’s could start out with Poitras as the #2 center. But I wonder if he will start the year in Providence. If he doesn’t make it they could move Coyle or Geekie into the role.
I expect Heinen will get a new contract and contribute in the bottom 6.
I’m really curious to see if Lysell and/or Merkulov can make the Bruins out of training camp. Sure would help the cap situation.

Dan, you are doing the heavy lifting for them. Demand payment or you’ll start pulling for us to break the bank on guys like Davey Snedmeir a very undersized D-man from a small club in Tuskaloosa. He’s slow, small, and has poor vision, yes. But easily worth a 7x$12M flyer.

Vegas could be a wildcard if Ullmark has changed his mind on going West, but if there’s a GM that’s going to give you 50 cents on the dollar for a player and nothing more, it’s Steve Yzerman.
His opening line would probably be “I’ve noticed the teams interested in Ullmark have moved on but don’t worry I’ll send over a protected 2nd…”
