Great 1st period but the rules changed after that.

It's nice that refs try to keep the pace up by not calling icings (happened to both sides, they missed 4 in a row once) but that directly impacted to the outcome of this game. I prefer watching good 5-on-5 hockey aswell rather than terrible penalty calls which then lead to phantom make-up calls.

what about a call on Hjalmarsson that we still have no idea what it was for??? lol

What was he supposed to do on any of the three goals? Kane wide open in front of the net, puck kicks out to an open player in front of the net and Toews on a perfect pass on the PP.

Of course that second goal was a missed icing.

Third goal as well. Pathetic. Games like this are why I never spend actual money on sports. Officials are either incompetent or corrupt. Take your pick. NHL will never get a dime from me. Only viewership.

Refs see from the big board that they screwed up, then start calling phantom stuff. That's when the wheels fall of the wagon and the game takes the wrong turn. Just call it how it is in the rules, or change the rules so that everyone knows them. Not that tough.

Let's see, 100% of faceoffs taken/times thrown out = #1 in the league. Yup. It's in the new advanced stats section of the NHL website. Look under "it's a compliment, I was making a point".

Of course; however, viewership only requires my time. Considering I only watch the Caps when they are on national TV and the Caps in the playoffs, it's not really a huge timesink. Just entertainment...like the WWE.

Watch how often he legitimately sets his stick first when he's supposed to. The answer is almost never. That's cheating on the faceoff. It's a subjective and accurate assessment of him, and (as was stated and agreed to) every other top faceoff guy ever.

The refs don't help their case at all....

So much subjective latitude....a missed icing leads to a goal... then.... a "mystery" call for unsportsmanlike conduct in the final minutes of a game (close game).

Caps played well but didn't get it done. Nobody is talking about the 1st rate defensive play of the Hawks. Their defense kept them in the game.

Good game for the caps and hawks...fun to watch.

Not only did he over commit, but a foot outside the crease he tries to wrap his leg around Brouwer to get an interference call. Then chops Brouwer's leg for no reason. Joke.
