It's frustrating. If the Canucks had anything less than an elite goalie in Demko after Markstrom left, Benning would have been fired much earlier, and it would have saved a lot of assets. Now that the team actually has a deep, promising forward core, Demko's struggling.

It was abundantly clear when he was acquired in that deal, that he was brought in specifically to address a perceived "toughness" deficiency and fill a role on this blueline. And that he would be drawing in as the #3LHD as long as he was healthy.
