Zucker was tried on both top lines and failed miserably. He usually plays on the third line where he really doesn't fit either. Perhaps one of the softest players in the NHL as well . His name came up this week in trade rumors r9 a west coast team . I believe st louis minny and the ducks

Since when?

He plays opposite Kapanen on the 2nd line.

let's wait a bit before calling Gallagher done, can we?

He was on pace for over 30 goals last year yet again ( for a 4th year in a row),

He's a slow starter (because he's a high motor guy and early in the seasons he needs his cardio to catch up to his style of play (no surprise he started slow this year with such a small summer break), on a 3-12 team mind you.

He will get going soon imo and we will still call him "close to be done" for at least 2-3 years.

Since the penguins have had a million injuries on the forward group. You realize malkin is the 2md line C right?
Carter is playing 1C now but that doesn't mean he is a 1Cm go back to last season and playoffs and see where Zucker played. When they are all healthy zucker will be traded as his play has been below average again this year

Habs get out of long, expensive contract for a character guy who's been underperforming for awhile, Pens switch out a winger who hasn't worked with Crosby or Malkin for a guy who might.

Define "awhile". Because he was at a 30 goal pace last season and him getting hurt almost cooked Montreal's season last year.

There's no reason for Montreal to even consider entertaining a a Zucker/Gallagher swap ATM.

Zucker played on Malkin’s line in the playoffs.

No. But i have counteroffer. Zucker and Pettersson for Toffoli, 2nd.

I feel like every Habs contract is overpriced, no?

No.

Toffoli is 2nd in the league in goals for all RW over the last two seasons.

He's making 4.25, which is around half of what all the RW around him make.

No, since he joined the team. He's never not been used as a top 6 forward in Pittsburgh, no matter how much we hoped he'd be bumped to a different line.

So far, it's pure fantasy.

Since the beginning of last year. He was projected to score 54 points last year, which is underperforming at his salary.

The playoffs obviously saw a further dip in production that's continued into this year.

What is worse than being a bottom 5 record in NHL?
Being bottom 5 and having way too many unmoveable contracts.
Drouin, Price (Byron if ever healthy to play) are unmovable
Gallagher is really hard but not impossible to move
Anderson, Petry aren't easy to move. But possible.

Gallagher needs better line mates to get going. He will be more than fine short term. Long term we shall see.

Lol, no its not. Gallagher's career high is 54 points. His value has always been his goal scoring and 5v5 play driving and two-way play.

He struggled offensively playing hurt in the playoffs, but he was still a big part of why the Habs made the finals. There's no reason that Habs would be looking to move him now.

Point taken. I assumed he got his contract on the back of his play last year, but he signed early.

That said, his production was poor in the playoffs and has continued this year, which is why so many in this thread figured my proposal was lopsided in favor of the Habs, not the Pens.

I'm obviously a fan of his regardless.

His play wasn't even poor in the playoffs.

And many on here figure the proposal is lopsided in favour of the Habs because HFBoards hates veterans with term and don't pay much attention to players outside of hockeyDB if they don't play for the team they watch.

It was unproductive though, which has continued into this year.

You don't like the proposal though, which is completely justifiable.

Hmmmmm , these were the penguin starting lines for the playoffs. Yes zuxker got bounced around as he never got with any of the 3 lines. When malkin crosby come.back he will not be on the top 2 lines again
