Your first sentence pretty much shit all all over this proposal lmao. Unless Gallagher has a Dustin Brown style resurgence (which was coaching, not being an undersized wrecking ball getting injured every season), why would the pens take on such a big contract in exchange for a guy with one more year at a cheaper price?

No. But i have counteroffer. Zucker and Pettersson for Toffoli, 2nd.

I feel like every Habs contract is overpriced, no?

Why would PIT do this?

Because, as I said, Zucker hasn't worked out in Pittsburgh and Gallagher plays the sort of game that would mesh very well with Crosby and Guentzel.

I also think that getting away from the Montreal market could do wonders for him. Patches didn't look so hot near the end of his tenure there either.

I'm actually shocked that fans are saying this is bad for the Penguins. I actually would have thought that there was no way the Habs would do this.

Gallagher is being the shadow of himself... it's very sad because this guy has probably the biggest heart in the NHL, but both of his hands are done.

Yeah, Gallagher was injured in the playoffs, was in line with his normal self of 30ish goal/50ish points last year, but he's finished.

Zucker as been off for +/- 3 years now, he's been playing with the likes of Crosby, Malkin and cie, even then haven't produce much, but him for Gallagher isn't fair?

Am I missing something?

P.S.: oh yeah, and Gallagher have intangibles that Zucker doesn't have, like being a heart and soul player.

I remember a few years ago when everybody was writing him off after his hand injuries. He came back with multiples 30 goal years. I would never bet against Gallagher...

Idk you seem pretty uninformed on Zucker to begin with. Especially with Zucker not being a "heart and soul" player.

Zucker's about a 25 goal, 50 point guy that had a down year last year. Gallagher is better, but acting like it's a complete tier level difference is laughable.

What is laughable is people saying Zucker for Gallagher is nonsense.

Zucker might be heart and soul, but Gallagher is completely at another level.

Plus Zucker ''zucks'' since 2017-2018, Gallagher is since the last playoffs, but he was seriously injured then.

And he's been playing with Danault and Tatar for the most part of the few past seasons, when he had his 30 goal years. Good players, but nothing compared to Pittsburgh big two...

unless MTL retains 2.0M-2.5M on the contract, there's NO WAY PIT touches that deal... back to the drawing board

If I was the Habs GM, I would consider retention yes because I felt Gallagher was worth what Atkinson had for his contract ($5.75M). But if Gallagher is available for $4M or $4.5M, that's unreal value for a proven spark plug who can score 30 goals from age 29-34. So yeah, sure we can consider retention but we are not doing it if we don't get the return we want.

Gallagher does have a lot of mileage on him for sure but he has also had times in the past where he struggled and some people counted him out. He's resilient and in great shape but you do need the right spot for him and we no longer have Danault and Tatar so he needs to find chemistry with other now. Our centers lack puck possession skills... even Suzuki

Pens should endeavor to acquire every member of "That 70's Line", but only get Toffoli once Carter has moved on so none actually play together.

Looks like @Dipsy Doodle is on EK’s speed dial because Gallagher to Pittsburgh is the lead on HockeyBuzz. I don’t see Gallagher to Pittsburgh unless its something like Rust + Dumo/Matheson/Pettersson. Because of the way Heinen and O’Conner have worked out, the Pens don’t need more wingers. zthey should try to turn their surplus LD into a vet goalie. Edit—Zucker can play with Jeff Carter on the third line.

They are different tier player 5vs5 the last 3 years quite easily. And Gallagher doesn't get the benefit of playing with the likes of Malkin.

TBH neither does Zucker. Zucker hasn't really played on a stable line since hes been here. Too many injuries
