You should be inquiring about Zac Jones in that case. I keep saying, Zibanejad is NOT garbage. Worst case you get a 2nd player. Best case he's an elite 1st liner.Uh, that's pretty much what we were doing with the Rangers roster with this trade
That part is debatable. He’s slowed down considerablyThat Zibanejad contract is bad. Spurgeon's runs out in two years. Not a fan of MN imposing yet another cap penalty on themselves after just getting out from under one.
Zibanejad is in obvious decline- was a really good player, but is no longer. % more years? Ouch. In contrast, Spurgeon came back from a tough 23-24 with a nice season, and still looks to have his legs. Schneider is ok...Gaudreau a nothing, but a cheap nothing. Zibanejad contract kills this deal for MN.
That's by no means a consensus opinion. He is still an above average skater. Good speed, VG pivots and changes in directionThat part is debatable. He’s slowed down considerably
The five more years is a deal killer. Again, the Wild have just got out from under years of cap penalties. Taking on an aging and fading Zib would be tantamount to handicapping ourselves once again. I am terrified that Guerin and Hynes would love this idea, btw - aging players are catnip to them.Yes to basic concept of zib to MIN if he waives
do not see that in a vacuum, but for discussion sake, ok
then no, we are not giving up Schneid -- who played chunk of last yr hurt -- to move him
some instant gratification peeps at our board stupidly want to move KAM/Schneid for ... reasons (not)
but I am open to him to you for something that leads to more roster flexibility for ny
Disagree. He’s lost a step. I am not sure I’d call him an above average skater anymore. He’s still a good player but lacks the mobility he had in his primeThat's by no means a consensus opinion. He is still an above average skater. Good speed, VG pivots and changes in direction
concur and I am responding to OP ideaThe five more years is a deal killer. Again, the Wild have just got out from under years of cap penalties.
