Been some rumblings lately on Mika’s future in NY:

According to Arthur Staple, the Rangers and Zibanejad's camp may have already decided that "moving on would be best." Since Zibanejad appears to be part of the decision to find a new home, it will make things much easier for the Rangers who had no leverage. The veteran has a full no movement clause that he seems to be willing to waive to go somewhere else. Any team won't likely do, but there has to be a handful of teams who will be playoff-bound that Zibanejad wouldn't mind playing for.

What’s it take from MN?

I can't say yes fast enough
Hmmm...

Let me try to make it more balanced and less one-sided towards Minnesota.

to Minnesota Wild
Mika Zibanejad [10% retain] (5y @ $7.650m)
Braden Schneider (1y @ $2.200m, then RFA)

to New York Rangers
Frederick Gaudreau (3y @ $2.100m)
Jared Spurgeon (2y @ $7.575m)
( retaining $0.850m on Zibanejad for 5 years )

... and then if it's close but favours NYR slightly, you could add in the "Minnesota moves up from 52 to 43" if necessary.

Maybe I'm overrating Schneider here, but he seems like almost exactly what the Wild need in place of Spurgeon. Gaudreau is an average bottom six center, I don't care about losing him at all.

Cool. No draft picks then. Remove the 10% retention on Zibanejad, get both GMs to shake hands and then file the paperwork with the league.

Rangers fans looking to dump Zibanejad and be done with him. Gaudreau is a perfectly reasonable 3C on a reasonable contract that can play behind Miller and Trocheck. Spurgeon can replace Schneider as 2nd pair or 3rd pair RD for 2 years. His cap hit is high and not ideal, but that 2 year contract is a much more manageable thing to deal with for Rangers than 5 years of Zibanejad.

I'm not a Rangers fan. Interested to see if a few of them have thoughts to share on this.

Not sure at all about this but...

Mika Zibanejad (10% retained)
Braden Schneider
(maybe?) MIN move up from 52 to 43

for

Jared Spurgeon
If we can get rid of the retention, replace the pick swap with a 3rd rounder going Minnesota’s way, and bring a third team in to take the Spurgeon contract, I’m all for it

to Minnesota Wild
Mika Zibanejad
Braden Schneider
3rd round pick (from CAR)

to New York Rangers
Fredrick Gaudreau

to Carolina Hurricanes
Jared Spurgeon
5th / 6th round pick (from NYR)

Zibanejad was a point per game player after JT Miller’s arrival over a 33 game sample size, despite the Rangers abysmal PP. They aren’t trading Schneider just to get rid of Zibanejad. Furthermore, he’s really the only potentially available top six center outside of Tavares and Rossi. The Rangers won’t be giving up prime assets just to clear $8.5 million.

WTF did I just read? And you want New York to retain on top of this ridiculous smutty fan fic GM dungeon porn?
I would not move Ziba for Spurgeon alone. Dude is old with a bonkers cap. NY has plenty of RD. He does nothing for NY.
Spare us all these "Zibanejad has negative value" BS trades. The man has multiple 40 goal seasons, 90 point seasons, and had a down year in a year where the entire team played bad. I'm excited to see what Sullivan can get out of the guy.

Maybe y'all want to send Middleton, Hartman, and bump up 70 to 52 for Will Borgen. Bad proposals taste like 💩, don't they.

The difference there is that Middleton and Hartman are both better than Will Borgen, and it wasn't a Wild fan who proposed the Mika trade.

Also, Mika doesn't have multiple 40 goal seasons or 90 point seasons. Stop lying and acting like we can't check hockeyreference. Spurgeon is old with a bonkers cap? He makes less than Zibanejad
