With Couturier getting 7.75 for 8 years, what does Zibanejad’s contract look like?

Similar ages, similar level of player, similar late breakouts for both of them. Zibanejad is also due for a new contract after this season. What does his contract look like?

Depends on how much he likes New York. Anywhere from $7.5-10 mil depending on the length. If he hits free agency, i'll be surprised if he gets less than $8 mil.

I think it will depend on how he does this year.

I think he’s guaranteed 50% more on his next contract (8m), but he could definitely go 75% or double if he plays at a very elite level.

I think he will get 60-63m/7 years.

His numbers are similar to Point over the last 3 years so I'd expect he's looking for a contract in that ballpark.

I really like Zibanejad and he’s a fine centre but I do think his production can be streaky so I’d be reticent to pay him as an upper echelon #1C over a long term contract.

Maybe 8 to 9 million?

He hasn’t really been streaky aside from his Covid slump where he had like 5 points in his first 25 games and then finished the season with something crazy like 35 points in his last 20 or so games. In the year he led the league in GPG and paced for 108 points he was on fire the entire year, same with the year prior where he put up 74 points with 0 help around him. If he’s healthy next season I expect him to put up at least 90 points and 40 goals. The issue with his game pre-breakout was that he wasn’t consistent enough but he fixed that in the 2017-2018 season

To be clear, I'm distinguishing between 11-12M and 8-10M.

Someone will give him close to 10 per.

Especially if he beasts again in that 40+ goal range.

A full season without any covid issues and Mika can push 90-100 points.

He touches tnat stratosphere, there will be a number of teams lining up to pay him 10+

The beginning of that list isn't like the end of that list.

Big difference between McDavid and Seguin.. I'd agree if you only said Seguin.
Zibanejad is better than Tavares by a significant margin right now
