The Oilers need Kane back bad and have to add some toughness somewhere. They're to soft of a team right now.
He's coming back for the important games.

Lol get out of here look how far from the blue paint he is.zadarov basically went in at the goal line the only way Skinner doesn't get trucked is if he is literally all the way inside the net.I mean...it looks like a push to me? Full extension. I'm not a fan of either of these teams...

There is a slight push/direct in the last angle they show.
That said, Zadorov more than likely was gonna run him either way.
Kulak could have redeemed himself by going after Zadorov. But he didn't.
I agree. He was pushed a bit while trying to score a goal. Unlucky hit the head.
Real goalie got a real shutout last night.Thank the heavens Skinner is ok. Imagine the horror if the Oilers were forced to trade for a real goalie!
ok easy hulk hogan, like you wouldve done something if you were playing.OIlers are buttercup soft lmao. Wtf was that response

Well yeah...like if you make no attempt to avoid goalie, you are running the goalie.thread title makes it sound worse than it looks. he had the puck and drove the net, just didn't try to avoid the goalie one bit.
You know, glasses are pretty cheap nowadays, I higly recommend themAbsolute bullshat. Being pushed in by a defender does. He wasn't [pushed in. He deliberately ran the goaltender. His trajectory wasn't affected at all by the Edmonton defender. Should have been 5 and a game, Would have been if it wasn't a Bruin.
He didn’t try to avoid him.He was trying to score a goal, not take a run at a goalie. Lmao. OP's headline is worse than what you'd see by Sun reporters.
My guess is Zaddy wasn't explicitly trying to injure Skinner, he was trying to score and just didn't really care if he ran Skinner or not in the process. But there was next to zero contact with the dman - there's always going to be some contact from the dman when you charge the net, this was about as light as it gets. Zaddy ran Skinner very hard and it was totally on him IMO, he chose that line where contact was basically inevitable.
I've played hockey my whole life, and even back when I was playing competitive full contact hockey, in this situation, where going for the deke is going to take me straight into the goalie, I'd just stop short and shoot, not skate through the goalie. These situations come up a lot, and players almost never chose to just smash through the goalie, but that's exactly what Zaddy did.
Lack of response from the Oilers is pretty nuts here, Zaddy went in on his own and hit Skinner HARD. I get not wanting to fight a big dude like Zaddy, but it's the NHL, fighting guys if they run your goalie is part of the job. Plus, does the anger/adrenaline not just take over when you see a guy hammer your goalie this hard? At the very least, even if you aren't going to fight, skate over, give him a crosscheck or two, yell at him. The zero reaction at all from the Oilers is wild.
Some ppl are comparing this to McCabe/Hathaway, where even as a Leafs fan I'll say McCabe probably did make the wrong choice to go after Hathaway, and saying "that's why you don't respond" if you're an Oilers player. But it was a pretty different situtaion:
- The goalie contact was way lighter, and way less Hathaway's fault. Retribution wasn't really required by McCabe IMO
- McCabe started with some crosschecks, and could have just left it at that. Hathaway was like "yeah I made contact with the goalie, I'll give you a few." This is how guys generally react after making contact with the goalie - it's not going to be an instant fight on confrontation, they'll give you a cross-check or two, only fight if you really force it. If Oilers players didn't want to fight, they could easily have given a cross-check or two and left it at that
- Hathaway is a true heavyweight fighter, who's very dangerous to fight as a non-fighter. Zaddy is big, tough and a solid fighter, but he's not at Hathaway's level
I thought I read that they made a bunch of moves in the offseason with the apparent goal of being more physical in the playoffs?98% of the roster is softer than an NCAA roster.
Kastelic and Zadorov aside absolutely.I thought I read that they made a bunch of moves in the offseason with the apparent goal of being more physical in the playoffs?
Did they just add size and forget to add the truculence?
