HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2024-2025 season

I repeat myself again on this, but it is simple: use the Brave browser. No annoying ads. In fact it is so good as a browser that I ditched Chrome. Works on Android too.

Cool thanks. Actually in this case I just wanted to sponsor the site somehow and I see now that its possible. Gonna try this browser just the same.

Jordan Staal with a hat trick tonight against the Leafs. I remember him as an 18 year old scoring 29 goals. The closest he has come to that since was 25 goals, He was groomed as the #3 centre behind Sid & Geno in Pittsburgh, he's had a nice career in that role.

the good teams that couldn't beat the bad teams that beat the actual good teams?

The good basically they slaughtered each other. And the remaining one was so beaten and were easy picken. Sort of like when the Canucks went to the cup in 2011. I give no respect to the Bruins. The Canucks were involved in bloody playoffs against the Hawks and other teams and when they faced the Bruins, they had no juice left. While the Bruins had an easier road against weak teams.

Habs in 93 for sure then

It's crazy how the Islanders defeated the Penguins with Mario and Jagr that year. It felt like a turning point for them. And they never won it again until the Crosby years. I wonder what that was about. They should have have had multiple cups with the team that they had. They even got Tomas Sandstrom in 1994!

The league let Kaspiritus mug Mario. It was a joke.

Under today’s rules Mario would be unstoppable. He’s absolutely re-write the record book. The league let him be hooked and grabbed to a ridiculous extent.

TBF, they were coming off winning 2 straight cups, which had to have taken a massive toll already. Playoffs were pretty brutal back then, especially the first round. The Pens were probably ripe for the picking and the Isles had a feisty team who took it to them pretty hard. We got them without Turgeon in the CF, which made it much easier, thanks to Dale Hunter being a dirty SOB.

I was in grade 8 at the time the whole run was just crazy. iirc habs were an underdog to the up and coming nordiques, sabres were an underdog to the bruins, and of course the islanders to the penguins.

I think even los angeles was a weaker team than toronto to face in the finals.

I still think 86 was more of an upset than 93, especially given all the rookies we were playing including Roy. That team wasnt much over .500.

Agreed, 93 wasn't really an upset but more of how things played out... I mean Quebec just dies after being up 2-0, we can thank Pierre Page lol

The Islanders knocking out the back to back Penguins who were f***ing stacked!!

And I honestly believe the Leafs were better than us and the Kings that year, but don't tell anyone please lol
