So Zadina is going to sign with us after possibly being bought out because he knows we will have historic injuries again? Is that your point?
Dude stop trying so hard. It really isn’t working.

It’s a little amusing that a coach with very little experience and no resume gets treated like a prophet by some. At some point, he’s going to have to start getting team results on top of being a players coach. He’s not some miracle worker that can tap into any small players potential just because he overcame the odds during his playing career. That said, I do still really like having a guy like this around at this stage of a rebuild. But I have a feeling he won’t be around long when the team takes the next step and actually has expectations.

I think we should rely on what his players say about him and not NHLfan9191 😂

BUST ---> [Marty will fix him magic box] ---> UNBUST

This is getting old and cult-like
Seems like alchemy but until it doesn’t work — why not?

During the Bergevin times it was often said a certain acquisition was “buy low” or even more often “low risk”/“no risk” — as easily disproven as the assertion may be, it was taken for granted that cheap pickups were generally harmless and held a modicum of disproportionately good upside.

Dach, Newhook, and Zadina all actually have untapped upside if you go by their draft pedigrees.

I feel Zadina might end up in a better personal position — Chicago or Arizona or San Jose.

I asked simple questions. Why overreact? This is a classic situation where I gave you sound logic and you are the one who went off the rails. You clearly can't handle a conversation and because of that, turned it controversial.

Post conversation derail... "Dude stop trying so hard. It really isn’t working". I can't control your lack of compression, nor will I be held responsible for it. I guess you are being ganged up on by several posters and bad character comes out. I've seen it before

I've thought about this before. I do believe that St. Louis will only get better with time but I wonder if it comes to that, if he'd be willing to get demoted to assistant coach instead of flat out getting canned.

I don’t understand why you came at me with a sarcastic response like that. I never came at Marty’s character. I’m sure he is fun to play for when there’s no expectations. But it’s hard to judge a coach when his teams are finishing in the bottom 5 of the standings and his previous experience was coaching peewee. His real test hasn’t even come yet because the team hasn’t my been competitive. All the “I want to see x player with St. Louis” makes him sound like a guru. He helped Caufield, but outside of him, who has he truly helped progress past to gain such a reputation?

Culture!!! No Zadina allowed!
Unironically the reason why I believe the chances of hughes being interested are low.

But, at the same time - he left a lot of money on the table just so he can play play the game he loves at the highest level. So I guess he does love the game more than money.

How so? What money did he left on your table?

Wings fans seems to think that he has a low hockey IQ. I would prefer giving a roster spot to one of our young guys insted.
Can confirm - his hockey IQ is lacking.

Also, all indications are that he doesn't want to play in the AHL so if he's not assured a roster spot, I'm not sure he's a fit. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he plays in Europe this season.

I mean Dach looked good. Matheson has taken game to next level. Monahan looked better too.

Monahan’s always been a pretty good player. The circumstances behind his career are unfortunate with the injuries. But I’ll give you Dach and Matheson. Although I think Dach was just more of natural progression given his age.

I suspect St Louis will be around long term. He is a smart guy. He knows what it takes to win. By the time the team is ready to win he will go from concentrating more on winning than developing players.

You guys think we'll sign a player who refuses to report to the AHL?

The chance is literally 0%.

He very well could. But he reminds me a little of Denis Savard in Chicago before they hired Quennville and took their first real big next step.

IF Hughes can unload Hoffman and/or Armia, I'd be all for adding Zadina on a 1yr "show us" deal.

We clearly have a top 9 W opportunity.

CC - Anderson - Newhook - RHP - Gally - Ylonen - Armia - Hoffman - Pitlick - Pezetta

A strong camp and Zadina could easily push himself into a top-6 spot. Talent is there. Opportunity is there.

The problem is that we have 10 wingers already (and 5 C's), but wont start the season with more than 14 forwards, so if we add Zadina, 2 other forwards need to be moved or sent to A.

Whether or not MSL would make an impact remains to be seen... but certainly his approach with young players and his understanding of what it takes to translate raw talent to NHL impact are elements that Zadina could benefit from... and his own journey is in itself something Zadina could gain motivation/inspiration from (needing a fresh start with a different org. and taking that opportunity to push through to NHL regular and impact player).

Would you place Zadina ahead of guys like RHP, Newhook, Farrell, Heineman, Roy?

If the Wings buy him out, I doubt he signs with the Habs. Why? He's going to choose a team with a more shallow prospect pool. He don't want to play AHL, he wants a full time NHL job.
💯 % agree. I think Ylonen and RHP are both better players than Zadina. Then you add Heineman who looked great in Laval late last season. KH already has too many forwards, adding another makes zero sense.
