umass absolutely dominated ot and deserved to win, but so often the ice is tilted heavily in one team’s directiom, only for the other team to score the game winning goal.

good for umass. good for jones. hopefully jones plays well in the final.

Bobby Trivigno (big Ranger fan...at least his dad was) played a tremendous overtime. amazing pass for game winner. Now we get to see another game of Jones. Man is he good.

And i believe it was Trivigno who was reported a couple weeks back to be planning to attend NYR prospect camp. He is a Junior. Small but was their leading scorer

That hit in OT where he had to choose to play the puck or the man, was amazing

He’s another quick thinker like Fox. I admit I didn’t watch Fox much at Harvard but was he as dominant and as visible every shift as Jones has been especially in such a huge huge game?

Fox was a more complete player. I think Jones needs to round out his game a bit and work on his decision-making. He needs to pick his moments a bit more.

The way Jones played this game was amazing though. He reminds me of Kravtsov in the way that he seems to step up when the lights shine brightest.

Hard not to get excited about him. Unfortunately he's a little redundant here with his game being so similar to Fox's, but could potentially be a centerpiece for a young center.

Fox is RD
Jones LD
Nothing wrong with having an offensive dman on both sides
Pair jones with trouba/schneider
Lindgren Fox
Miller Lundkvist
Jones Schneider
Robertson
PP1. Fox
PP2 Jones Lundkvist
Looks like a bright future to me

Exactly. You play who is good enough. This obsession with size by some is a bit overboard. Jones and Lundkvist are sub 6 ft, but by no means pushovers. Especially Lundkvist plays like he's 6'4" in puck battles. Until 2024, we probably have 2 spots up for grabs with Lindgren, Miller, Fox and Trouba being locks.

Once Trouba's NMC turns into a M-NTC, there's the possibility of moving on from him and opening up a 3rd spot. What we see in the next year or two will be the result of a successful rebuild: Some really good prospects will be moved simply because we don't have room for them. If it were up to me, I'd keep Jones over Robertson but it's so close, I wouldn't be upset either way.

Zac Jones looks like he could be a really good offensive defenseman, but there are still major concerns about how good he’ll be defensively.

This is going to be a really tough call for management.

True, but that's a problem for next year. He already said he will stay in college for another year. It gives him time to round out his game and work on the weaknesses in his game.

This is a great problem to have though.

It is strange, we see what Fox does and it's like, oh there is the Rangers one small D-man, quota filled. Like hypothetically if the defense consisted of Fox, Makar, Ellis for example, it would be horrible.

It depends.

Fox is small but it doesn't really impact him because he rarely allows himself to get tied up by bigger players. He isn't "shying away" from the situations, hes limiting the volume of these occurrences.

I'm very, very skeptical about Jones and Nils' ability to do this, especially Nils where he's played pretty much his entire life on the larger ice and its 10000000% helped his game. Nils playing like he's "6'4" is NOT something I'd necessarily mark as a positive. He's going to lose those battles at the NHL level, physical limitations are physical limitations.

Colorado is going to be really interesting to watch this playoff season because they are collectively really tiny on D. They got mauled a bit last year, but it'll be interesting if history repeats itself there.

People are stuck in 1995. But I guess so are the Ranger because they drafted Schneider.
