Jones was a solid player here. He probably makes the list if he stayed. The one year (I think it was 2016-17) he got Norris votes they were deserved. However he didn’t maintain that elite level of play. He just wasn’t here long enough to be considered imo.
Panarin might be the best player to play for us talent wise, but be wasnt here long enough. Fedorov and Gaborik are on the list if it’s “best players to ever play for the CBJ.” But not from their own accomplishments here.

Of course, that'd also require an alternate universe in which Jones doesn't force his way out, but c'mon, a girl can dream.

Panarin and Jones should definitely be listed. I wouldn't list Fedorov or Gaborik, tho, as their big years weren't in union blue.

I dunno. Panarin's and Jones' peaks here were high enough that I'd keep them up there on a list regardless.

Big fan of Jones, but longevity factors in. I mean there is no doubt the best performing Jacket ever was Panarin (2 highest point seasons) but is he a top 10 Jacket all time? Hell, how do you rate Saad who had a couple of really good seasons and his career pretty much peaked here. Jones was a Jacket for 5 1/2 seasons. To me that is not long enough to get you in the top 5 all time.
Bob - 7 seasons
Werenski - 9 seasons
Nash - 9 seasons
Atkinson - 8 full seasons and 2 half seasons
Foligno - 9 seasons
I’d probably have Jones next. Then maybe Dubinsky.

Interesting mindset and winky face. The CBJ would undoubtedly have been and be better now, if he would have stayed. I don’t watch the Chicago Blackhawks, no. I’ll assume that most of Jones’ “decline“ and him playing with literally one of the worst 3 rosters on the NHL the last few years, is not a coincidence.
He would look like a completely different player playing with current day Werenski.
Why don’t people look at Foligno and Atkinson the same exact way??
Can anyone give me a good reason why Nick Foligno is the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks?

Other names for this way off topic tangent:
Jenner 3rd in points as a Jacket and 1st in games as a Jacket.
Vyborney is 6th in points and 7th in games.
Savard is 5th in games.

I just don’t understand the mindset, even when it comes to Panarin. Or especially when it comes to him. Him and Jones should be looked at similar in the way that they were completely professional and played at a level that was literally best in the LEAGUE for at least a couple seasons, which is all you can ask of ANYONE. It sucks they left, but, that’s really all that should be taken from it, in regards to them personally. IMO.
Again, I don’t understand the “longevity factor” here. Panarin and his amount of time I can understand the argument. But he was still THE BEST when he was here. As was the team. Jones and 5 and a half years!?! Come on.
And again, to everyone else and their lists. Bob, Nash, Atkinson, Foligno all have similar “endings” to their CBJ careers, as Panarin and Jones.

I would not list Panarin. He bailed on the Jackets and the City of Columbus. Now he never caused any trouble and he played his best when he was here. But he clearly wanted out adn he was only here for a few years. So I don't put him on my Mount Rushmore.

That the CBJ franchise isn't ready to build a Mount Rushmore for past/current players.
There is one player who would warrant consideration on a legit Mount Rushmore for the Jackets. The goalie who won the Vezina twice here and won a Stanley Cup last year. No one else who played here need apply. Panarin was just over a PPG which isn't anything to glorify in perpetuity.
Nash would only be a sentimental choice.

I am a Denver Broncos fan. Terrell Davis arguably was the best player in the NFL for a three year stretch in the 90s. He played for the Broncos for 4 seasons and then (because of injuries) parts of 3 others. Payton Manning played 3 seasons in Denver and set all sorts of QB records. These are hall of fame guys who had league wide accolades and championships playing for the Broncos. I wouldn’t put them near the top of the list of greatest Broncos because they just didn’t have the longevity in Denver.
My greatest Broncos list would have Elway (16 seasons), Gradishar (10), Atwater (10), Shannon Sharp (12), Champ Bailey (9 1/2), and Von Miller (9 1/2) before I would entertain an argument between Terrell Davis, Karl Mecklenberg (12 seasons), Dennis Smith (13) and Gary Zimmerman (5). I don’t know how many other guys I would consider before Manning. Rod Smith (12) is definitely one.
What can I say? I think longevity matters.

Werenski has only played at a Norris-finalist level for a couple months now. I'll be ready for the best Jacket ever conversation after a couple more years of this.
For now it's Bob by a mile, then Z and Nash in some order. Probably Seth Jones 4th for me. Apparently it's controversial, but Cam isn't even close for me.

Ce, you nailed it by saying we aren’t ready to build a Mount Rushmore. It’s still under construction. Bob is the only face carved into it so far. Nash would be the next candidate but only because he’s the best of the rest.
Bread would be a candidate if he was here longer but two years isn’t long enough and I’m not putting him on OUR Mount Rushmore because of what he did elsewhere. If he’s our best candidate for our Rushmore, it’s proof we have no reason to have one yet.
As an aside, if our Rushmore wasn’t limited to players, Mr Mac would be on it for bringing to Columbus what I never thought we’d have.
I think Z will easily have a place on the CBJ Mt Rushmore when it's all said and done. Even if this is his greatest statistical season, if he retires a CBJ player I don't think there's anyway he's left off. What's he's doing as a a forward would get him there, him being a defenseman and leading the charge is that much more impressive.

Jones leaving was maybe the best thing to happen to him personally on a hockey level. He said he was going to step up and step into the 1D role and run with it. And he has. Evason has done a great job with him too, but Z is such a gamer. I hope he’s here for his whole career
