If I were to rank the top destinations, I think it would be 1. Florida 2. Vegas 3. Tampa 4. Dallas. 5. NYR. Pretty surprising to see someone decline Dallas. Toronto, Montreal, Philly, Boston, Chicago, LA will always have their supporters as well, but Dallas is a top tier destination.

Wonder if this will result in Harley departing Dallas at some point. If so, SJ is interested!

I'm starting to doubt a deal gets done honestly.

If we do make a trade and it is futures heavy, this is 1 case where I'm rooting for the futures to hit and wouldn't care in 5 years if people are saying haha leafs, you could have had Cowan/Danford/Hilderby etc. The Jackets deserve a little love from the hockey gods

It’s shame that he’ll end up looking like the bad guy in all of this, despite sticking around through the worst of a rebuild. He could have forced a trade years ago.

To the point I made above, turning the NMC to a 10-team no trade in the last year of a 6 (not 8!) years deal seems like there was a very distinct possibility he would leave to FA.

He was also injured quite frequently for a while and in the first year of his current deal. And one of the highest paid dmen in the league for a while.

Not impossible to force a trade, but not the same leverage as after two consecutive Norris-level seasons, where his AAV is looking pretty cheap for the next two years.

So yeah, idk if hes a "bad" guy, but not very loyal either. Just opportunistic. Got his money bags as an RFA with limited power. Sees all the trade requests around the league and sees the opportunity to leave while his value is at its peak.

So you've now conceded to my original point, thank you. The package from the Leafs is likely Knies+ Danford+ TLK + Hildeby +1st . With a reduced number of teams to be traded to thats a very solid offer

that’s a horrible offer. danford is a B level prospect, TLK barely sniffs most teams top 5 prospects. So it’s Knies + Hildeby + Colorado 1st which is a horrible deal for a top 5 D.

You have to include Cowan to make it serious. Because this is a trash offer since your prospect pool sucks.
