For one year. JB was a JAG in the minors until he broke out at the age of 24/25 with Providence.

To me, Trotman is JB-lite. Not as heavy, doesn't have as big of a shot, doesn't nail people as much, but he has all those JB elements to his game and he's actually much more rounded defensively at this age than JB was. I think he'll carve himself a good career as a solid top 4 defensive dman

Do you think he will end up being a top4 D with the Bruins?
I hope not.

Gotta disagree there, I don't see Trotmen ever being more than a 5 -6 guy.

I really just don't see that much potential in Trotman. Seems to me he's a fringe NHLer, someone who is likely to max out as a 6th/7th D type. I hope I'm wrong though.

Over McQuaid??? McQuaid leads the defense in +/- on a horribly minus team, and he and Krug have been our steadiest pair. Starting Trotman over McQuaid would be stupid. Actually starting anyone except Chara over McQuaid would be stupid.

K.Miller is now the weak link but I prefer him with Morrow more than Trotman.

The problem is that K. Miller and McQuaid are playing higher (more minutes) than where they should be slotted.

I shudder to think about the damage Trotman could do with that many minutes.

Putting in a lesser player isn't the answer. Finding a guy who can push those two down to where they belong on the depth chart is the answer.

This is true. They can either try and do it now, via the trade route, or wait for youth to develop and take those slots.

This is where we get into the assessment/patience game. No sense in making a deal that fills a #3 or #4 slot and makes you only marginally better as a team when the team still has zero chance to do anything, especially if you believe you're prospects are going to pan out in a couple years.

I expect the FO to wait and see what the TEAM looks like over the next 15-20 games before trying to fill a particular need. If the FO is convinced they're going nowhere, keep developing the youngsters, bide time, etc.

I agree with almost all of this, except the bolded. I think Trotman is just as good/better than K Miller and has more upside.


Also, the stuff earlier about JB55 being more mobile than Trotman is way off.

Personally, I don't think either is anything special, but I certainly don't think Trotman is better. IMO on a legit contender, Miller is a 7, while Trotman is an 8/9.

But at least Miller brings some toughness.

I've yet to see anything in Trotman that makes me think any differently and in fact, he's played some of the worst games I've seen a B's defenseman play in 8-10 years.

I think Seids ends up on the third pairing. I just don't think he is going to be any better than last year.

I hope Trotman doesn't get time with Chara, Colin has been practising with Chara for weeks now and has higher ceiling than Trotman so I would like to let him develop with Chara and be his full time partner soon and maybe, maybe with luck get an answer to that pairing question.

Seids on the LD side doesn't solve us anything.

But we agree on that Kevan should be out of the lineup no matter what.

Not over McQuaid but over K Miller ,yes and it isn't that I am particularly a huge fan of Trotman but he looked good in the last game he played and towards the end of last year . Talk about bad luck being paired with Irwin in the first few games .
