Should have been more. At least 15 games would have been what I would have gave him, especially after his interview after the game thinking he was a hero about it.

Sure I am biased, but am I in charge of determining suspensions in the NHL?

Nope. Pronger is tho..

It's already been explained to you and everyone else that Pronger is not allowed to make rulings on anything involved with the Flyers.

And even if he were able to rule on the Flyers, do you really think he would risk his professional reputation in his first job post-playing career to protect Zac Rinaldo of all people?

Be reasonable here.

No injury aside from Letang did not finish that game as well as missed the following game the next night....

What a majority of people here seem to ignore is the cumulative effect of hits. This hit may have kept him out of a few games but the type of hit could have long term repercussions. This IMO is why the penalty should be severe.

I understand that this game is violent and there is no way to measure long term effects.

The hit was intentional . Repeat offender = 1 year ban.....

Yeah, pretty unprecedented for a year ban. And like it or not, the league has been clear on considering degree of injury in a suspension. I don't like the practice either to be less severe on a player who is both dirty and clumsy.

You point out an important fact that was clearly indicated when Pronger agreed to join the DoPS. What some others hear, though:

The NHL is the worst of everything. They will not protect players, especially their star players, and they will not allow teams to protect their own players.

Let me be clear . I have never played the game . I understand the hitting but where does the league draw the line. If they want to send a message i feel that banning for a year would be very clear. IMO

( Repeat offenders with intent to harm another player) Set up criteria and stick with it!

The NHLPA would never agree to potentially suspending a player for that long. You'd have to do something really bad to recieve that type of suspension in which case you probably have other concerns than just hockey.

Unions for the players not really protecting the players who need protection but the trouble makers. Somethings never change!

Also interesting seeing people in the Rinaldo hit threads and the Neal hit threads with some inconsistent viewpoints on what's a dirty hit and what's not.

Oh ya that's right, the flyers captain intentionally headshot zubrus, how convenient that is to forget.

The difference of course being that James Neal is an actual hockey player with value and Rinaldo serves no purpose other than intentionally trying to injure the opposition.

You know who also isn't in charge of determining suspensions? Pronger.

Your bias is causing you to create a fictional world where Pronger is in charge of suspensions.

Very few Flyers fans defended Giroux's shot on Zubrus. Many, many, many people defended Neal.

It's way too high, it's only cause it's Rinldo that it's so much.

Yea, it wasnt a dirty hit or anything and the player clearly took pride in what he did.

Also, yea shocking, dirty players that have a reputation of playing dirty even after being suspended will get longer suspensions. welcome to the NHL.

Completely unbiased. Don't like either one of them.

An example of the hit that both the NHL and NHLPA is trying to get rid of. If they think 8 games gets it done so be it.

This is what happens when you have Chris Pronger (who is still being paid by the Flyers) in charge of meting out penalties to the Flyers.

Don't have to be a genius to identify that this is a CLASSIC conflict of interest scenario.

ANYONE would be biased in that scenario. It's just a shame the NHL has the incompetence to hire Pronger in the first place.

It's nice that a Flyer is on the committee. Yeah, he doesn't make any judgements on Flyers. Uh-huh. Yeah.

He is just work buddies with the guys that do.

This league is a farce.

so let me get this straight. a first ballot HOF is going to put his rep on the line and defend a no talent clown like Zac Rinaldo. Seriously? do people even think before they type such stupid ****ing rubbish?

How many defended that hit Giroux put on Zubrus? A very small percentage likely. more than likely the same out of Pens fans who had no problem Neal running around like a clown in the Flyers series. but hey if it makes you sleep better thinking its only Flyer fans who think that way good for you.

Not enough. He said he wouldn't care about the suspension so 8 games isn't going to teach him a lesson. 8 games from now he will be eligible and that moron Berube will throw him back out there and he will inevitably do something stupid yet again.

Should have been at least 10 games.

-Very dirty hit
-Repeat offender
-Letang left the game from injury
-He waived his face-to-face meeting
-Seemed proud of what he did after the game.

There are almost as many reasons to suspend him as the amount of games he was suspended for.
