Hoard middle of the road picks who won’t really be difference makers, we know.
All those 2nd and 3rd rd picks he keeps holding onto sure are helping our team! (One is)

And trading them will get you McDavid? Don't hoard your picks because they are mid but trade them for something that's good. Make it make sense dude.
Yes. Trade your depth prospects and picks that you have a million of for actual help and show your team you’re serious about making the playoffs.
It’s pretty simple. It’s quite obvious at this point a ton of the prospects/young guys we thought were going to be meaningful to this team simply won’t be. There isn’t enough room and they aren’t good enough.
Trade them now when other teams could give them a shot and might see value (see: Ottawa moving depth pieces for Zetterlund)

He WANTED Mrazek to have the extra year on his deal. We came this far let's see this thing out. We have the best prospect pool in the league and good cap space. Our core is locked up long term. We're not dumping 1st's for Laughton and Carlo. Gourde etc. The only deal might have been Cozens but he had one outlier season makes a ton and the return was crazy. Just no. Let's wait some more. I know it sucks but we're waiting. You don't like it go root for someone else and bandwagon your way back later.

Give me trades he should have done? Zetterlund? That makes us contenders? Maybe teams don't value our depth prospects and they wanted a lot more? You can always make a trade just to make one. He isnt just making trades just to do something.

There’s a huge difference between a contender and at least making the playoffs.
There’s also a huge difference between Zetterlund and and Tyler Motte or Shine.
You give up Wallinder and a 2nd every day and twice on Sunday for a much better shot of making the playoffs when we have a billion mid tier prospects and picks

So we had one useless Veleno, now we have useless Smith and useless Mrazek. Adding them to Holl, Tarasenko and Gus would make a "Useless 5".

He mentioned wanting to go for players with term at a good age(For high picks and prospects). I wonder who those players could be going forward. I just can't get Elias Pettersson out of my head based on Lidstrom's comments few months ago that they'd be interested. I know people are massively doubtful about him right now. But might be something to have an eye at for the summer.

I'm fine with not buying, but I don't get standing put. In my opinion they should've shopped Kane, who is an expiring contract. You'd have to imagine he would return AT LEAST a 2nd and a 3rd.
We simply don’t have nearly enough room for all these players. Something you can’t seem to grasp.
Wallinder is not going to be a difference maker in the NHL
Wanting Mrazek at another year for $4M isn’t the good thing on Yzermans resume you seem to think it is

Like I understand what Yzerman is doing. And honestly, if it were any other goalie in the league, I'd be there with him. Lock up a known quantity because you think the market will suck. But I truly think that Petr Mrazek is going to be one of the worst production/value adds that could have been made for 2025-26. Like we'll look back at the year at the end of it and been like "Wow, Mrazek was shit and made $4M."
I functionally do not see the difference between bringing in Mrazek now with the extra year as a positive and signing a guy like Dan Vladar or Kappo Kahkonen or even a James Reimer retread. At least those guys would be making $1-2M instead of 4. I just soured immeasurably on Mrazek during his time here and nothing I've seen in any of his stops has done anything to change my opinion of him. He's a complete rollercoaster who doesn't even have the Top Thrill Dragster heights to his game anymore. He'll have a good game and then a blowout. That's.... okay when you're vacilating between 15 stops on Ovechkin in a 1-0 win and giving up 4 to the 2015 Dallas Stars. Not so much when your good games start being two goal games and the bad are Mra7ek.

Honestly Lalonde have a lot to answer for this in my opinion. Only reason we're anywhere close this season after the disasterous start is the big turn around during McLellan, which you have to give Yzerman some credit for going for him, but of course also give him some flack for sticking with Lalonde for too long.
