@Eye of Ra made an all 2000's international team thread, so I'm copying his idea at a club level. If this has been done already, so be it - merge away.

The only rule I have is that it's using the players prime year with your team. For example, the Leafs acquired Brian Leetch at the trade dead line at the end of his career. That's the version that they get - not the Noris/Conn Smythe version.

Nylander - Sundin - Roberts
JVR - Matthews - Kessel
Mogilny - Tavares - Marner
Corson - Kadri - Tucker

Reilly - Yushkevich
Kaberle - Tanev
Phaneuf - Kubina

Joseph
Andersen

That D core will look pretty silly next to NSH :help:

Early 2000s really dont do any favors to habs

Erik Cole - Nick Suzuki - Cole Caufield
Max Pacioretty - Tomas Plekanec - Alexei Kovalev
Mike Cammalleri - Saku Koivu - Alexander Radulov
Tomas Tatar - Philip Danault - Brendan Gallagher

Andrei Markov - PK Subban
Lane Hutson - Shea Weber
Roman Hamrlik - Jeff Petry
Mike Komisarek

Carey Price
Jose Theodore

Notes:

- Erik Cole 1 year but was so good.
- I used to think Radulov was the best forward habs have had in that period until Suzuki surpassed him recently. He was a hab for 1 year too.
- As a hab Kovalev is basically a 1 year wonder.
- 2002 Theodore is the single greatest performance of that group.
- I considered Slaf but I dont think he’s there yet.

- Although he was there only 1 year I think Erik Cole is the best season by a LW we’ve had in that period.

I think this is an absolutely stacked team personally

I disagree on the bolded (unless you’re building a team based on designated roles, like building a 4th line based on 4th line esque players). I think you can do better than these players, such as Horvat, Demitra, Mogilny, etc.

Forwards were actually insanely difficult to fill as outside of Ovi/Backstrom/Kuzy they actually haven't had many that have been with the team for longer than 5 years and a ton of 1-2 year stopgaps all throughout the decade -- Lang, M. Nylander, Kozlov, Ribiero, Grabovski, Fedorov, Knuble, etc.. Fedorov sneaks into the last spot because his playoffs were just that good/important to the team.

No I'm not putting Jagr onto any Caps team.

As always the defense and goalies are incredibly underrated

Overall great goaltending and a solid wings and D-core (a lot of people wouldn't put Miller in there but I love his game).

Centres are weak compared to other teams listed

Kariya and Selanne have no business being included, buy they'd really make this roster look bonkers.

Edit: it's been brought to my attention that I left off Landeskog. D'oh!

It's pretty horrible. It would probably win the cup. Probably. Very, very similar to today's Dallas Stars but with Danault and Weber instead of a 17th and 18th PP specialist. Except it's 3-4 generations of Habs "greatness" put together lol

Big fan of Dejardins, but 2000s are not his prime years

Think you have to have Lindros (depending on how you demark 2000s...), Forsberg and Desjardins in there. Kim Johnsson too. And I think Mason was better than Biron overall. Probably knock Hartnell out of the team too for Roenick, who played some wing for Flyers.

Lindros played 22 games for the Flyers in the 2000s and was still one of the best players on earth.
Forsberg was still a Hart contender level guy in time as a Flyer on a game-by-game basis.
Desjardins was still elite in early 2000s... heck... he had 2x top 15 Norris finishes, playing 26-27 mins a night.
Johnsson was an all-around top pairing guy. 24 minutes a night and 40 points in low scoring era. Better than Streit for sure, Coburn too, and probably Provorov at his best.

Think to accommodate I would have:

Giroux-Lindros-Voracek
Gagne-Forsberg-Recchi
Briere-Richards-Carter
Roenick-Couturier-Konecny

Pronger-Desjardins
Timonen-Johnsson
Provorov-Gostisbehere

This is the one I've been waiting for. Two really good eras in the last quarter century. I'm not sure anyone will be able to top this. That Center depth, top 4 and goaltending is nasty.

HM to DET, but their two eras overlapped leaving a smaller pool to choose from.
