PLD - too much money at max term for an inconsistent center who averages 60ish points a season

Doughty - playing better this season, but he's over 30 and has a cap hit of $11 million for the next 4 seasons. I worry how well it will age

Danault - I actually really like him as a player, but with Kopitar re-signed and the acquisition of another center, he's making $5.5 million for the next 4 years to be a third-line center.

Best:
Anderson - 8 years a little over $4 million for a top-4 defenseman

Kempe - he's had a rough start, but he scored 41 goals last season, and is signed for two more seasons after this one at $5.5 million

Fiala - he's been awful this season. Despite that, he's still leading the team in scoring and could actually be the first player on the Kings to outscore a healthy, non-rookie Kopitar. Signed for 6 years at about $7.9 million

In a league of his own: palat

There aren't bad contracts to choose from right now besides palat, tbh. Timo and Dougie are big money deals that likely will be bad at the end, but are fine right now. I figured that was worse than a deal like haula, given the term and hit.

I dunno, maybe some would prefer Marino and siegs given they each have at least 3 years after this one and contribute minimally offensively, but I don't feel like either of those deals will ever be crazy buried upside down

I was having trouble thinking of 3 good contracts on the Flames, but I have to agree with yours.

Some days, Markstrom’s makes the worst 3 over Coleman though.

Best: Connor, Morrissey, Hellebuyck - if this is just for AAV then replace Hellebuyck with Ehlers

Worst: Schmidt, Pionk, Scheifele (?)

One of Chevy's best GM qualities is that he rarely gives out really bad contracts - none are particularly bad right now outside of maybe Schmidt.
