I realize our D has been lacking for the whole season but last night was on a different level. I mean all of Schenn, MDG and Carrier were getting beat left and right and that ended up showing on the score sheet as well. Skjei had his horrible turnover as well.

As a defense - or more specifically as a team - we are not very heavy and physical nor are we a fast team even though the coaching staff may want us to play as such. Last night was as ugly as it gets. I mean we have our fair share of trouble generating offense but man are we a miserable bunch defensively as well. No wonder Saros lost it after that 3rd goal, even though he's usually so calm no matter what happens in front of him. Sometimes he may yell at the refs but never to the team, like he did last night.

The coach continues to double down on that ... stuff. At some point, we need to realize he's ok with it and/or incapable of learning and adjusting. Then it's just a matter of waiting for the GM to ship out the next young player for next to nothing or less.

Some of it is on Bruno for sure, for forcing things that are clearly not there.

But I don't think truly he has much to work with. I honestly think that we have one of the worst d-cores in the whole league and that's accounting Josi. Without Josi, it is quite clearly the worst d-group.

Our D sucks but trying to get them so involved offensively really exacerbates the problem and seems to kill our offensive players production to. Like Schenn may not be great but I think he can be halfway decent if he just focused on trying to protect the net. Instead we have him trying to singlehandedly break the puck out of the zone like he's Josi or Makar.
