Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

Oh, so you agree, that Lindgren is the worst player on the list, but you wanna settle for him cuz it is better than nothing in your mind?
Worst in that list but by far best of the rest. Or would you rather go with Dumoulin, Ryan Suter or Cal DeHaan-types? And that list might get very short, very quickly. There just isn't many reasons for Gavrikov to sign with Wings and same with Provorov & Fabbro, take them off and what do you have left? Lindgren.

Ekblad is #1 target and then Lindgren. Lindgren knows his limits and knows his role, 27-years old in his prime.

I think the narrative was more like "Rangers dislike Miller's defensive abilites", which I am still not sold on. I want a security blanket for Mo, but Mo would be the security blanket for KAM. Difference to the stat quo is that Miller is actually capable offensively. So this could work. Still, I hope we do not have to trade in order to fix the defense.

If Stevie is really that interested in Lindgren as it was reported and in fact signs him on top of that, then I'll start to have serious doubts in terms of his roster planning.
I think Miller is a solid ‘Plan B’ to Gavrikov/Provorov and I would be happy and excited to add him to this group.

Yeah ok, in that scenario I'd also prefer Ekblad. But if we strike out on him too I'd swallow a bitter pill via trade or do nothing. Do we know what Lindgren would command?

No , it's no enough. we need like 3 or 4 more guys like that
I agree, the Wings need more. We are in wait and see mode with our prospects and thus probably trades as well. Yzerman’s FA prowess does not inspire confidence to get these types of players.

I guarantee no team will give up a 8th or 9th overall 3 year removed prospect/young player for Miller...if he had that value he wouldnt be available from a nonplayoff club
Never underestimate the craving of GMs for big puck moving dmen and never underestimate the stupidity reigning supreme in several front offices.^^

Things gonna look bleak if we miss out Ekblad, trade prices in the summer will be costly for top-4 D. So doing nothing might become reality.

Evolving Hockey has been good at guessing, their estimate 4.84 mil & 4 years. Kinda like what Chiarot got.

Gavrikov seems like the number one option for lots of Wings fan, I can't say I have seen much of him so him getting a big contract worries me but he seems highly regarded by most fan bases. Ekblad would be fine in my eyes but not at max term and if he is leaving Florida... why would he go to Detroit for 3-5 years? Having Mo, Simon and Johansson at least means there is a solid foundation for whoever they bring in and they wont need to do all the heavy lifting and be the #1.
The thing with Gavrikov is he really blossomed under McLellan in LA. So if he were to sign with Detroit he'd know exactly what to expect. I've heard his family supposedly loves LA, now the rumor is he wants to go to NYR. Seems to change every month or so.

He'd be a great fit, give Mo some help, improve our awful PK, and could slide down the lineup once Ed is ready to become Mo's partner and they dominate the league.

Just a perfect signing. Like I said, acquire his rights and then offer him the Chychrun contract. Money well spent.

I could get behind that.

Man, Ekblad is not coming to Detroit. We're not "missing out" on him, there was never a chance he was coming here.

He wants to stay in Florida.

He could be tight with Shesterkin, same age and they played together in U18 Worlds, U20 Worlds, 2 men's WHC and won Olympic gold in 2018. And they played together 2 seasons in SKA.

Sure, who doesn't? They are constantly winning and entire core is locked with exception of Ekblad & Bennett, allthough it sounds like Bennett is locked. There's been the Bennett extension rumours but i believe latest Ekblad rumour is that he wants term and Florida is considering it. Sounds like he could take cheaper deal from Florida as long as there is term.

Time to trade for Panarin, so Gavrikov would join as an incentive. Think Kane would be a factor too.
Bummed about the Gavrikov to NY rumors. I know any FA to Detroit right now is unlikely, but he seems like such a good fit.

LD is the biggest need for the Wings imo simply because of the state of the farm system. I think there are a couple/few forwards that have the potential to end up as top six options (Danielson, MBN, Buchelnikov, Plante, Lombardi, etc.), but only one D (ASP) and he's a righty.

We'll see what transpires, but I wouldn't mind seeing Danielson integrated similar to Kasper last year playing on Larkin-Raymond's line, but we really need a better option to play with Seider.

If he is going to NY Yzerman better be bidding that up to make NY pay more than it needs to. It’s a guy we should be overpaying. Perfect fit

I'm dropping the hottest of takes for this offseason (or coldest?) based on totally unsubstantiated speculation around what our team plans to do this offseason

• Detroit trades Berggren + 13th OA 2025 + 3rd round 2026 to Pittsburgh for Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell. PIT picks three times in a row and Kyle Dubas has a 2015 Bruins situation on his hands. He does mildly better than Don Sweeney did with his. Dubas still gets endlessly flamed for his selections because they're not all elite 1st line talents

• Postava has been signed and will play in GR, Cossa is traded along with a GR prospect like Buium and/or a pick for a goaltender like John Gibson. Anaheim already has Dostal though so idk

• Detroit signs Ryan Lindgren for 4.5M × 4 yrs (barf)

• Detroit re-signs Detroit Tigers baseball legend Dan Petry's son to a 1 year contract (BARF!!!)

I've been adverse to trading a 1st for Rust or Rakell but a package for both is a little more interesting. The problem is, both are Right Wingers aren't they? How many RW do we need? Raymond, Kane(resigned?), Tarasenko (couldn't play LW to save his life) and then adding two more on top of that? Hell, even if we don't bring Kane back that seems a little excessive.
