Ok then. Well I don’t think the mines are that hard to spot. He has said he wants to play in the NHL. He has said it’s his dream. He will be at the draft. We heard that SKA doesn’t prevent players from coming over. We heard teammate say Michkov wants to play in the NHL. We know his dad really wanted him to play in the NHL.

At this point, Russia is not the USSR but even then, some players came over.

So I don’t think the mines are that scary, no. And the 25M would make all the difference in the world.
Then why most of teams don't want to draft him in the top 10 ?

So if I pick Michkov I get a three years before anyone can question my selection. What is not to like about that? :sarcasm:
I see it coming no matter who we pick other than MM there will be a certain faction who will be ultra critical no matter what they do.

I’ve already accepted that the Habs will probably pass on Michkov if he’s available at 5. I can understand the reasoning behind it and I’m okay with any of the players that have already been mentioned the possibility to be available at 5 not named Michkov.

Now, if I were the Habs management, I would draft Michkov and call it a « high risk, high reward » pick. I mean nothing guarantees us that any other player picked at 5 will not bust.

Just my 2 cents…

I dont care if you agree with the russo-phobic management of the NHL. I dont care if you agree with the MOAR BEEG managements.

I care about draftijg the best player, and that player is hands down Michkov as early as number 2 and the quality of player goes down incredibly fast after Leo and Adam.

I know youre not high on Smith, just like me, and thats whos going to get picked ahead of Michkov.
drafting the best player available is the point, not just draft the best player.
And in the case of Michkov, it’s the “available” part that is uncertain. Even if he tells he wants to come after his current contract, we still don’t know how Putin will react about loosing his star player

It's not just about losing his star player, it's about saying a big FU to NHL and North America.

Putins on the verge of a world war and growing old by the second, Im pretty sure he doesn't give a f*** about Michkov. Also? Why is he allowing all the players to play in the NHL if he does?

So why are the Russian players still here?

Showcasing Russian talent is probably a much better strategy then to bring them all home…

Would't bet on that
How there not be a zero percent chance that Michkov is available at the 10th drafting slot?

WAS with their 8th pick are never going to let it happen. You would lose that bet, I’m fairly confident.

All in for Leonard at 5. I think we are aiming for a special winger there. I heard a comparison with Filjp Forsberg (for what its worth) that makes a lot of sense

Dubois - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Dach - Leonard

big time Playoff top 6.

More on the 0 % that is happening

I do think it's a good possibility WSH would take him

Every Habs pick shall be assumed to be a bust until proven otherwise. And until then, their names shall be mangled accordingly.

A HF tradition.

I will tell you what a scout told me this weekend

Michkov is like a 100M $ Diamonds in a minefield with a lot of mine

Other prospects are 75M $ diamonds but with a clear path to that diamond

Witch one would you take ?
I’m going for it

Love it !

Same reason why they didnt want to draft Tarasenko, or Kuznetsov, or Caufield, or Karlsson, or many others.

They are much more stupid than we give them credit for.
I just want to be clear though, I do think Michkov is the 3rd best prospect in that draft. I would personally LOVE to draft him.

I'm just at a point where I just don't see it happening

Probably lost in translation here but I thought you said in your previous post that you wouldn’t bet on there being a 0% chance that Michkov will be available at 10 — this means, you think that he might be available at 10 and hence you wouldn’t bet on the zero percentage.

I’m saying the opposite, I don’t believe Michkov will be available at 10.

Hopefully, I understood you correctly.

Yes my translation was really bad on that, my bad !

What I wanted to say, it's that I don't think there is 0% chance he's available at 10 but I still think the chances are high that WSH grab him at 8.

Forsberg is my comparison for him. Loved Filip in 2012 and had him first.

I do think its towards the upper end of what Ryan could be though. Anything between say FF9 and the year where Weise peaked being his low end.

I have Leonard at 9 but I really tried hard to rank Smith ahead of him, unsure if Im right to do it but eh, Smith was the best player on the line all year.
