Korpi keep your stick down
Bingo! Exactly what I was going to comment on, but I am too frigging busy catching up!
I understand why goalies are taught from day 1 to rarely use their sticks much of the time because of rebounds. It's like a useless appendage to most. That said, there are very specific times when goalies should be using it. Korpi splays himself out, in effect offering a massive gaping 5-hole, with his stick held out to his right. Why? Close the frigging 5-hole on a breakaway and then you can spread the pads out all you want.
Another stupidity I just can't fathom why goalies almost never use their sticks in penalty shots or overtime shots! WTF not?! A player is not allowed to hit the puck a 2nd time, so why not use it the stick to close that hole? Who the eff cares about rebounds there? It's just dumb, and frigging mystifying to me.
