I’m calling Vanecek “Fetch” moving forward because the organization seems intent on making him happen.
At first it seemed more like it was about punishing Schmid than being loyal to him.
But he didn’t even get to play this much last year when he was actually playing well, until Blackwood got injured for 6-7 weeks.
They sat him to play Blackwood two games in a row in the middle of arguably his best 3 game stretch as a Devil.
And we were told it was because Blackwood had played well historically against Vancouver lol.
That sure doesn’t seem to matter when deciding which goalie played the Rangers this year. We didn’t play the goalie that’s 4-1 with a .951% and 2 shutouts.
Or do those not count because he has yet to face them in the regular season and those are all from the playoffs?
Hopefully Ruff and Vanecek don’t get a long leash here longer than they should based on last season. Because the early returns on that are not looking good.
Actually, it was even before last year concluded that Vanecek outlived his usefulness. Hence: why he was put on the bench for much of the playoffs.
Vitek at this point is like that cop that killed Chrissy’s dad on the sopranos. When he retired, he wasn’t useful anymore and they let Chrissy whack him.
He hasn’t hardly had any good games this year where the team didn’t play outstandingly well.
If the team plays so-so he’s a lock for 3 or more goals against. Even when the team plays decent he’s sometimes a lock for 3 or more.
